Oh true, I forgot he was wearing the helm back then already
Just saw this. Have to say Fassbender looked eerily like Sir Ian at the end when he was wearing the helmet.
Also, when Emma Frost cut that circle of glass from the window in her prison, why didn't she escape? You'd think if she could do that she could do the same to a body attacking her.
Oh I forgot to say. It's been a while since I saw the first film, but I thought the opening scene with Erik was the exact same footage. Did they recreate it?
Not the exact same. I don't think Erik was knocked out by a guard in the trilogy's version. Also, Shaw was in the window smiling.
Some of it looked reused, other pieces were added. He was knocked out by a guard in the trilogy.

yea the only thing the reshot were the pieces actually showing the boys face since they had to use a new actor 11 years later
I fell in love with Jennifer Lawrence after watching this movie.
I didn't mention it in my previous post but I quite enjoyed the film. Makes me sad that Charles and Erik weren't friends for very long before they split up.
I thought Kevin Bacon's accent when he was speaking German sounded pretty good. January Jones was her usual wooden self. I was very surprised she was even capable of smiling when she did smile the couple of times the occasion called for it.
friend sent me a link to this, apparently this guy didn't like the movie
That guy is trolling HARD!
X-Men First Class in a nutshell:
"Everybody was angry, and I couldn't even figure out why"
Love it.
Not a comic fan, not by any means, and I had really no idea about the characters or any of the backstory going in, friend wanted to see it (and pay) so I figured, why not? Just got back a bit ago.
Fairly enjoyable movie. I appreciated the pace being kind of slow (it was definitely slow for the first 30 minutes or so) because it made it easier for me to keep up with wtf was going on. I was definitely thrown by the fact that
Spoiler: show
I also got a bit weary of the amount of subtitling in the movie, guess with an international storyline it couldn't be helped, but damn, that's a lot of fucking languages lol.
All in all, I was entertained, my interest in other X-Men stories has been somewhat piqued now, though I don't think I'll ever be an avid fan.
Is subtitling really that hard to read? Not bashing on you or anything, I just figured most people on the forum watch anime which you know, is kinda subtitle heavy, and that we'd be used to it by now.
I actually hate anime, personally (which has nothing to do with subtitles, I just don't enjoy it), and I'm not saying it is hard to read, just that it gets annoying. And I personally felt that the entire sequence in French could have been done in English.
If the French bit was the bit in the bank with the Nazi gold bar, perhaps Erik spoke it to have some comraderie with the bank manager before he went and pulled the tooth filling out. Also, perhaps it wasn't common back in the 60's for the French to also know English (I may be bull-shitting). Same with the other languages. In general, people accept you more if you can speak their language.
True that, I guess I also found it hard to believe someone was multilingual in the 60s. At any rate, I enjoyed it, that was just my main gripe, so much foreign language in the first part of the movie.
My gripe was that Charles still believed in the good of non-mutants especially after they'd nearly been nuked to kingdom come on the beach.
It was a bit of a generalisation, but not everyone is so openminded.
