Eh, so if I'm reading this right, Yoshida was already involved with XIV somehow earlier? Interesting.

FFXI had imo a very good game system. I find it very balanced with some weaker parts and I don´t think that many players would be disapointed when SE would add a bit more of the XI game dynamics to XIV.
I really hope that they will add with their fix some endgame content! But I guess that was meant by making FFXIV not so pieceful anymore XD.
They have to work out the (SP)Party system as well imo. What I always enjoied in XI was that party system with the exp chains. Doing all day and night leves isn´t that interesting at all. Sometime I really miss it to sit with other ppl in a pt and kill mobs for hrs. A good worked out combination from leves and pt play would be perfect![]()
Well lets hope the new team will do it all right so this game will be better in the future!

Reading through the actual interview posted, it was done BEFORE January 14th.
It just might've taken a little while to get through translating and whatnot.
But yea... A little vague, but we should be used to that by now and not expect them to change 180, so I'll see what happens in the mean time. It's not like they're charging us to sit here and 'hope' that they'll fix some of the issues. My ls had a few people freaking over the idea of starting again and I'm of the mindset of "so what, if that means the game'll be fun, I'd rather do 1-32 all over again." Was in the camp of playing through it, but the last week or two, I've hardly budged from where my cat's been standing.
This is something I haven't revealed before, but I believe we focused too much on FFXIV being different from FFXI. Making everything original isn't necessarily correct, I think.
I want to stand up out of my chair, and applaud these words with a standing ovation. God damn it, thank you for realizing it. You didn't need to reinvent the wheel. If the man says nothing else, he just gained 100% credibility from me. Bravo.
That is the biggest assumption and most asinine correlation I have heard in a while. The point you're making is that consumers who buy things associated with brands are not only SE fanboys but that they are SE fanboys AND retarded. Essentially your saying that because someone liked a previous product they offered that they wouldn't try something new from the same company?
I don't think you realize the scope of your argument nor what you even said.
Example A
A Kellogg's consumer buys a new cereal they try out, turns out the cereal wasn't so great. Is the consumer a raving fanboy who's opinion should be disregarded?
Example B
Anyone that bought Mass Effect 2 because it has the mass effect name must be "raving fanboy" (Insert any game series Oblivion, Dragon Warrior, etc work just as well)
Arguing that people whom have brand loyalty are retarded raving fanboys without an IQ is arguing against how Human Society works as a whole
Its good to hear that they are doing something to fix the game. When it was first released I decided to wait simply based on what many of my friends in the beta were telling me about the game. I'm really hoping they can get this game together and get something rolling, because there is definitely a lot of potential from the sounds of it.
It is possible I could have stated that more clearly, but I think your assumption about human behavior and brand loyalty is slightly off.
Using the Mass Effect 2/Dragon Age argument, most people who bought these based on the Bioware name did so because Bioware's reputation leads them to the belief that Bioware is an excellent developer who can consistently create great games. Normal people do not buy video games just because the box says "Bioware" on it somewhere, they buy them because they had faith in Bioware's ability to produce. You can call this brand loyalty, but I think it's better described as pattern recognition.
Kelloggs has a similar reputation as a cereal producer. But let's say that they make a new cereal consisting of dried shit and broken glass. Many people who are familiar with Kelloggs' other cereals would try this. A normal person, upon eating their first mouthful of shit and broken glass, would stop eating. A fanboy would continue eating shit and broken glass, write letters to Kelloggs telling them how much they love shit and broken glass, and harass anyone who writes a negative review of Shit and Broken Glass because how could anybody dare speak ill of any Kelloggs cereal? That is brand loyalty, and regardless of whether that's how "human society" works, it is retarded.
How this applies to FFXIV and SE: most people who bought Final Fantasy XIV did so based on S-E's reputation and history; we enjoyed FFXI, we trusted they could make another enjoyable game. Normal behavior is to accept that they disappointed, and either stop playing or hope for change. Fanboy behavior is not normal. When S-E goes to review all the feedback they've received, I'd rather they disregard the thousands of "the game is perfect as it is" submissions.
And that has nothing to do with having the Final Fantasy name being an important factor.
As evidence... I'll tell you that I chose that option, being fully honest.
...and I think the game sucks.
Awesome, they are letting us know that they are going to try to make the game better!
Didn't they say that a couple months ago?

SE will throw money at this game until the end of time. It won't go down - it just may not go very far up.
Edit: Hyan, that signature is fucking creepy bro....
FFXI was far far from balanced, I really don't think the game got good until ToAU came out. I don't wanna rehash and spend an hour going through all the bad fuckups SE made during my time on XI which include all the imbalances but they really did a poor job when I played. I don't know what the game is like now because I haven't played in years but overall XI could have been 100x better than it was.
It isn't going to be hard for them to fix SP but you can expect a very time-sinking/grindy end game to come to XIV. After 8+ years of XI, SE still thinks time = challenge and that is very disappointing.
Why the fuck did you bump this?
he needed post spam so he could put vids in his FFXI ls recruitment thread
You're bitching that he bumped a thread, on a dead forum (more/less), that's only eight days old?
We here at the BG pretty much hate all fucks who spam just to reach 10 posts, so yeah. Especially when it is shit like herp derp I agree.
Except it wasn't a herp derp I agree post lol
