Yes everyone on your team can see it on the minimap. I started off using recon and really enjoyed it. I got a lot better once I went to Blind Eye though.

Nice, seems like a lot of people don't use it so I wasn't sure.
Unlocking hardline and finishing the hardline challenge goes really fast with specialist too. Assuming of course that you die since there's no streak to reset.
Another tip for people that lag. When you are match searching it will say searching for <50ms connections, then goes up from there. I almost always just back out and search again until I find a <50ms match.
Turning off theater mode may also help with lag, though I don't know if that's just a rumor or if it actually does work.
Also, not downloading gay porn works.
Goddammit.
I mean what
The theatre mode thingy seems to make little/no difference for me. I had weird lag issues when I started, or what appeared to be, but since they've pretty much all disappeared I'm willing to put it down to me being inexperienced with the pc or a patch changing things. I have theatre mode on at the moment and played for like 12 hours or so over the weekend and can count the number of bullshit deaths on one hand.
Anyone that plays with controller, give the basics/tips on dropshotting? I don't do it just because it seems like a really bad idea since I would have to remove my thumb from my aim stick to smash the button. The fraction of a second it takes to prone is an eternity when exchanging fire, and even if I could get my crosshairs on then drop, not many stand still when firing/getting shot. Do you only do it for very close range encounters, like when you are surprised? or what?
Also, I find that when people prone it's a guaranteed headshot for me, so is it even a good idea??
Why get scavenger on so early with specialist? You wont need it until kill 5 or even 7 if you don't waste bullets often.
I start with blind eye/assassin/sitrep and build -> hardline -> some other shit that really doesn't matter - I interchange between SoHP, faster aiming, marathon, and blast shield. I like to start with blind eye because you could join a game with air support, or you could die anyway to air support and have to spawn into it. Where as idgf about always starting with other blues.
Also,
If you start with hardline you unlock assassin at 1 kill and your 2nd specialist perk at 3 kills.
If you start with assassin you unlock hardline at 2 kills and your 2nd specialist perk at 3 kills.
Why start with hardline -> assassin again? Unless it's because assist = .5 kills, but idk. Spawning with assassin is pretty valuable.
Switch stick setup to tactical so that O or the Xbox equivalent becomes melee and pressing in the right stick becomes proning. Then you can control aim and movement in their entirety without having to take your hands off the buttons. This means you will be slower at panic knifing, though there is a weird way I liked to hold the ps3 controller in case I had to panic knife (I dunno how you'd do it with Xbox).
You want to do it in encounters where you don't need to move laterally much. Your lateral accuracy/movement when prone is terrible and people can simply run around the cone of your vision (especially at close).
Depending on situation, I often lay down suppressive fire and such and like to never risk running out of ammo.
Hmm, I never thought of it like that, which is dumb of me. I concede that your setup is superior. Also,

Well there could be something to be said about luring people to your location too though for the few seconds that I don't have assassin up. (OK not really a selling point...)
Also the getting assist as kills can carry over from a respawn. I've had this happen on multiple occasions, spawning with a kill. Doesn't just unlock assassin but starts your killstreak early.
I am in the same boat as Akiyama kdr wise. I am really terrible. I am slowly climbing towards 1.0 kdr though as I get better. I think the biggest issue for me is I run around too much too fast, I end up getting one or two kills then dying because I run into a room with a bunch of guys. I mostly play domination and team defender though and I am usually towards the top of the list point wise because I capture a lot. Seems like slowing down and taking your time is the best approach to increasing your kdr. Last night I played a game where I did almost no running and I just walked around the map slowly and deliberately and I went 35/20 which is one of my better matches.
My main setup right now is Type95 with rapid fire and holographic site, stinger secondary, frag, flash, support uav -> Cuav -> stealth bomber and I am trying to get pro on all the perks so atm I have Recon, Assassin Pro, Marksman. I love Assassin Pro...
Reading what you guys have been saying I think I am going to take off the holographic site and use iron sites and use that extra slot for a better weapon perk or attachment.
Edit: How long does counter uav work for? If I send it out and then they use uav after that will it still work? Is it ok to run without assassin pro if I spam counter uav?
I'mma send out waves of bg clan invites tonight when i get home, including you cruz. Just pm me your gt, any pending invites i'll see if i can delete and reinvite again.
As long as the CUAV is in the sky and not shot down it will block all UAV's, I'm pretty sure. Also, if it's the same as blops, you can have multiple up so even if they shoot down one they still have to shoot down the other. If you notice too, with multiple UAV's up the sweep gets faster the more you have. I think it caps at ~3?
This is all just me gathering from what I've seen don't take it as gospel.
Pro-tip (maybe), if you're running hardline pro, and you don't normally use your flashbangs/concussion/w.e... Toss those bitches randomly, you will often help out a teammate and get an assist as well helping your streak whether you're running assault or support. I just see soooo many people not using their flashbangs, ever.
I also need to kick the reload habit, I get caught so often reloading, or rather... after going on a rampage I run out of bullets and get shot picking up someone elses gun. Or I'll have people team up on me
CUAV lasts as long as a UAV, and it does not matter which is called in first. If you call in the CUAV, then 5 secs later they call in a UAV, they will end up with a UAV for 5 secs after your CUAV wears off.
Also, if someone has Assassin Pro, they still get the benefit of the UAV as your CUAV has no effect. Keep that in mind if you want to run without Assassin yourself.
Edit: 3 UAV's together gives your team the advanced UAV effect.
This is a HUGE problem for me too. I have a really bad habit of reloading too often and it gets me killed all the time. I need to be more diligent about only reloading when I have a quiet moment and not when I am running around a corner and can potentially face an enemy.
Thanks everyone for the info about uav and cuav and how they work that is really helpful. It makes it feel really worthwhile to throw them up as soon as I get them even if we already have both in the air. The thing about assassin pro people still getting uav benefits even without cuav is really good too I think I will most likely stick with assassin pro then. I like being immune to emp too.
Gah, need two more cards for the 45 min 2XP Dew bonus. Dew Perks and MW3 Perks. Anyone have em and need anything I have, let me know!
