you can add items to translate with /translate "item"
once it's in there, you can put it wherever you want it, search comment, bazaar comment, shout, tell etc

I use it in my shouts because i'm willing to deal with people that speak other languages.

Yea, I actually do know why, was being partly facetious(sp). JPs would much rather do <insert event here> with all JP instead of mixing it up with NA and JP.

Which is exactly what he was complaining about. He didn't want to have to do this every time.

Obvious solution would be to put all the JP on 1 server.

Job traits can probably go giving more room for job abilities. Hard to find a use for job traits since they're just there. I will also give a nod to getting rid of event terms that people hardly do anymore ei chocobo racing, garrison, ect. Unless they have some grand idea to bring all this stuff back from the dead.

I don't know if there's more lists that can be used the same way the item and key item lists are used now? Maybe magic spells? I know there's a limit of 255 per list so if we pulled all those spell lists into one and then somehow were able to setup a list of 255 of our favorite spells (can't be lost by the client on shutdown) that would give us more flexibility of what spells we want auto translated. This would get rid of the helldive issue nicely for most people.

Having all the zone names in the dictionary is very important because that is a how we as player communicate where we are going. Plus if most of the players are like me they only know how to spell the first 4 letters for any given zone. Being able to communicate what lights we are trying to build to JP players maybe useful as well.

Can get rid of all the duplicate place names by adding {Shadowreign} and {Abyssea} to autotranslate. There are also some places that probably don't need to be in autotrans at all: anything having to do with brenner, ENM battlefields, all cloisters, and einherjar chambers.

As far as spells go you could get rid of anything that doesn't proc grellow for blue mage (don't see many shout groups for spell farming anymore). There's also a number of bard songs that we almost never use (Aubade, Capriccio, Dirge, Fantasia, Gavotte, Operetta, Pastoral) and I doubt they'd be missed.

You could probably also get rid of all pet commands (I don't think it's very common for pet jobs to team up with someone they can't communicate with to duo something). I'm not certain you need to have job traits in auto-translate either.

Really you never realize how many of the AT terms are not useful until you look through them. The vast majority of them don't get used for a typical back and forth communication. I also think it's important to differentiate between terms that are just plain not necessary and terms that refer to legitimate game features but are old and not used much anymore. For example I'd say its proper to have all of the zones listed in AT even if many are unlikely to get thrown into actual use (like Cloisters etc.). And adding the "Shadowreign" and "Abyssea" terms is a good idea to cut down on the redundancy. Then just remove the [S] from all Wings areas and let the players use either as they like.

Honestly they can free up a ton of room if they're really up to doing this.

Then that is a poor English translation since "event" in NA speak is usually more related to running a party end-game event or something, or even a seasonal event. I've also heard "sightseeing" used but again with the poor translation.

{Magic Burst} is missing, forcing the common misuse of {Magic} and {Burst}.

All the "good manner" auto-translate sentences like {Please forgive me.} are going to stay. JPs are literally unable to comunicate without those.

True, JP's avoid autotranslate like the plague to keep out any foreigners. Even when they are getting desperate to find people for missions and such, they will probably type English before any autotrans.

Ughh don't go there with the whole collectivist "every JP is like this" versus "every NA is like that" thing because you'll just wind up wrong.

Nah those are plenty useful in comparison to other never used terms.

lol@stupidPS2 comments. Give them a disc for 360? Ok, let me spend money on redring. Give them a disc for PS3? It's the same as the PS2. Clearly, you're just whining instead of thinking through what you're saying.

    1. eh, whatever. They also wouldn't need to remove them if they got rid of all of the garbage that never gets used.
    2. See 1.
    3. It's not mistranslated, it just uses a phrase that is usually used for something else. That's not quite the same thing. They could always change it to be careful. Removing it entirely is silly, even if people don't know what it is translating to.
    4. How is you're welcome not high priority? See #1, etc.

If you've a more practical way of phasing out ps2, lets hear it.

I think we all can agree that PS2 needs to be phased out for the game to progress, otherwise sooner or later they're going to hit the cap of what PS2 can cope with. However, I'm sure they were saying we couldn't have more than mog satchel for extra invo space because of PS2 limitations but they seemed to add Mog Sack without much of an issue...

    1. You can say that for any word. The problem you have yet to realize is that those terms constitute that set of "garbage" terms.
    2. You already have a way to convey the meaning/feeling. Duplicating (Or using a term with a SLIGHTLY different connotation) is meaningless and wasteful.
    3. "It's not wrong, it just doesn't mean what it says in a majority of interpretations". Great. What's the point of autotranslate again? To convey a meaning in a language we know nothing about?
    4. Remember, it's not about being thorough. It's unnecessary in comparison to other potential words.

I don't think it "needs" to be phased out. I say deal with it. The point is that you can't "fix" a situation if you have no fucking clue what the situation is (Especially that PS3 comment). Also, it was that you couldn't have more than 80 inventory, not that you couldn't use more than the existing "types" of inventory holders.
