I don't buy Hailee as Supporting Actress unless the thought is she might win that one easier than Lead, but still seems wrong to me.

I heard that on NPR this morning before the list had come out that there was talk she was going to be on supporting actress list for a better chance. I've still yet to see True Grit.

Also shit, no Mila Kunis for Black Swan on supporting. I don't really get the reasoning though; Hailee has shit luck in either category, its either lose at Portman's hands or at the Fighter womens' hands.

Predictable. This makes it three times he's been snubbed.

Still not comfortable with 10 films on the best film nominees list...but at least this year's nominees list is stronger than 2009

    The Blind Side
    District 9
    An Education
    Inglourious Basterds
Precious: Based on the Novel "Push" by Sapphire

On average yeah, this year is better. But, 2009 had higher highs to go w/ the lower lows.

I was hearing today on the radio that it's custom and admirable for some obvious choices to pass for others. Mark Wahlberg not being nominated for best but having his supporting actor Bale getting the highlight or whatever was mentioned. Maybe it goes for Nolan too lol.

Plus, Inception/Nolan can't win every single award, I mean come on that's just not fair. Might as well call it the Inception Awards.

Won't happen, but I'd like to see Reznor get best score...it just fit so well.

    Mainly ambiance but still

People still care about these awards? All these are popularity contests and a bargaining chip actors and industry professionals can pad their resumes with so they can demand more money

Why are people posting in a thread that they have zero interest in the subject of the thread? The fuck is so hard about shutting the fuck up and getting the fuck out?

The Town got bent over pretty hard, but other than that the nominees were pretty predictable.

    Fucking this.

Never seen The King's Speech or 127 Hours, I definitely need to check them out as they seem to come highly recommended. Going from what I know off the list I'd have to say Toy Story 3, childhood bias, for Best Motion Picture. I'd say Inception but some of the acting was mediocre, not to mention how convoluted shit gets for the sake of being "deep" sometimes. The Fighter is just a repackaged Rocky, not sure if a remake has ever won so that counts True Grit out, Black Swan while cleverly was boring as fuck. Not going to bother mentioning the others since I've either never seen them or care to mention.
