SUPER low profile graphics cards?

Long story short, I basically had to get a new computer ASAP, no time to build etc. I only need it to last a year, maybe 2.

The best deal I found, by miles and miles, happened to be a very low profile machine. My intention all along was to find the best deal on something that's little more than a barebones, and toss in a halfass decent (like, $100 or less) video card.

Anyway, to the point: I started looking around for low profile video cards, and, well, the world seems to have a different definition of "low profile" than me.

Every card I can find has the 6.5" mounting setup.

My computer is 4" wide on the outside.


How I mine for small?

A lot of low profile cards come with a backplate for both normal and low profile slots (such as these). Finding a fairly decent card in that form factor is going to be difficult though...only so much they can fit into half the space.

Even a standard PCIe card isn't 6.5" tall though. It's 4.2".

Yeah, I'm not looking for much performance, need it to play WoW (don't care if all settings set to lowest other than spell detail), and would be nice if it could live through some SC2.

Thanks for that link, I didn't realize so many had the disconnect-able vga ports.

Well, that helped me narrow down my issues, but I still can't find what I need.

Basically, everything I can find is too long by about an inch or 2. It's quite frustrating because if they hadn't decided the case needs a pretty green light bar across the front, the drives could have been placed a couple inches lower, and I'd have literally hundreds more options.

So, yeah, I need something reeeeeally small. Any further ideas?

I found what I'm assuming is an oem used dell radeon x1300 for like $15, but it seems too good to be true. It's only got 256 megs tho, so it may be right.

Get a cheap normal case and transfer everything over?
