To be fair, my assertions stayed as far away from blanket-land as possible. I made it quite plain that I found the comparison to be a clever one, and not that I found it to be a universal truth regarding all players(I did say this more than once, one of which was in bold).

I never once said anything about that, all I said is that some people do enjoy the old style of leveling. How is that in any way hard to grasp?

I know some of you silly nerds will never understand this but it's not always all about speed. There's something to be said for enjoying yourself while you play.

I just want to take this time to remind you that all the game content happens to open up when you reach your highest level. But yeah, I do agree that it shouldn't take a day to level a job to 90. I can see like maybe...a week or something is reasonable. Personally I think that the whole being able to exp in abyssea shit is just retarded and that they should have fixed their exp system like it sounds like they are attemping to do. Put those high EXP chains to something with some meaning, bring back the days where if you sucked in EXP parties you got ye olde boot.

I don't really care too very much (though I do a little) how long it takes, honestly... often times, since the release of the abyssea expansions and the advent of abyssea leeching I tended to level the couple of jobs I've brought up with a mix of the two leveling styles. There's only so much leeching I can take but I do partake in it because solely leveling outside of abyssea is a pain in the ass in comparison... partially because of the current state of the game. And I can't really say anything about the game opening up when I hit max level because every one here has jobs at max level already... we already have access to that content. Maybe not on certain jobs but it'll happen eventually, I'm not in any rush to stop killing the same mobs over and over on a job so that I can go... kill the same mobs over and over on a job. Ya dig?
Either way you're doing generally the same thing but with a different purpose. The only thing that I'm against personally (and I don't care if everyone else in the world is doing it, good for them) for me is standing around in one spot with my thumb up my ass. Don't take this as me wanting them to do away with the ability to leech EXP in Abyssea. I'm not saying that and never will. I'm just saying I want other options that are either equally good or almost as good so that I can mix it up more and still feel like I'm getting something done with my time.

Personally, I'm not looking for them to gimp xp rates for leeching in Abyssea, I'm looking for them to boost rates for actually playing your job outside of Abyssea. Which is convenient, because that's seems to be what they are planning to do.

So hypothetically, let's just say that SE makes an adjustment to xp rates outside of Abyssea in this next update, that applies to levels 1-75. This adjustment is such that a normal party of 6 or fewer reasonably intelligent people can kill mobs around their level and still get xp flow rates that are approximately equivalent to leeching in Abyssea.

Now, aside from the people that would still leech in Abyssea because, "hey, getting xp for doing nothing is still better than having to do something," would anyone actually condemn the people that choose to get xp from killing mobs around their level outside of Abyssea? I'd hope not.

That's really what I think Kuroikage is trying to say (correct me if I'm wrong)... and it's what I'm looking forward to as well... being able to actually play the job I'm leveling and get xp at a rate somewhat equivalent to what I'd get if I was leeching in Abyssea. For me, I'd much prefer that. If that makes me a crazy Stockholm Syndrome sufferer, then so be it. (Hint, it doesn't.)
