Can You Feel Dentist's Pulling Your Teeth Out?

I've had 18 teeth pulled in my life lol. 8 adult, 6 babies, 4 wisdom. Adult and babies were just with novocaine and ya you can feel it, but I sucked it up because I was young at the time and my mom promised me money if I was a good girl when it happened. I don't remember those being too painful afterwards just really really sore feeling. (the adult and babies were taken out 3 separate times).


For the wisdom I had to be knocked out and all 4 pulled. I had lockjaw, and it wouldn't go away after 3 days, and I insisted it had to be the wisdom teeth aggravating it, even though the dentist wasn't sure since they had grown in straight.The doctor wouldn't have been able to open my mouth though with just novocaine so ya they knocked me out and took them out.

I don't really remember that day at all except at one point afterwards I went to try and get some water from the kitchen and fell down and my parents yelled at me for getting out of bed in the first place lol.


Oh man though, that did get rid of my lockjaw though which was pure heaven. Don't think I've ever been in more pain.

Whatever drugs they gave me after having my wisdoms removed were fantastic, but my pparents flushed them before I was done. So I was just on ibuprofen for four days cursing everyone out. Bitches.

But yeah, getting a tooth just pulled? NBD. Even if you feel it, like Ksandra said, it's not godly unmanagable pain.

Had all 4 of my teeth pulled out in 2009 at the same time. Demanded they put me to sleep because I wasn't staying up for that shit. When I woke up, I started laughing uncontrollably until the pain started hitting me.

Had to wait an hour to get my prescription from the pharmacy downstairs and I ended up passing out on the ride home. Got a new pillow a few days before and bled all over it that night. In hindsight, I also wish I sold the vicodin I had.

How dangerous would it be to use other painkillers if the pain kicks in before I can get the new ones? Obviously using them responsibly and waiting between doses, not popping hella at once and mixing pills to get high.

worst part that I can remember was just the constant weak/moderate pain in the days after that made it hard to sleep. I don't think I got very good painkillers so maybe if I had that wouldn't have been a problem

Some painkillers work fine when combined, some do not. You'll need someone to tell you what exactly is combinable.

I just had 2 teeth pulled a few weeks ago. The teeth were on opposite sides of my mouth so they had to give me local anesthetic in the roof of my mouth twice... which hurt like hell for a few seconds. The actual pulling though... no. I felt some pressure and some "if this hurts it is going to hurt like a bitch" anxiety, but there was 0 pain whatsoever and it took him less than 5 mins to take them out.

Post-extraction the only pain I got was when I was too stupid and tried to eat something I shouldn't have (hard, big, crunchy, etc). When I had my wisdom teeth out I was put out completely but the post-extraction pain was a little worse but nothing too bad as long as I wasn't retarded.

As for painkillers, Tylenol and Ibuprophen are a good mix of medication for me. Just make sure if you plan on taking both in your regimen that you slightly (1-2~hr) space them out and don't take more than what is prescribed. If you need something more than that I would talk to your Dentist (or even your primary doctor) and see what they suggest.
