I may be remembering wrong, but pretty sure Judaism/the Talmud teaches to forgo Sabbath during times of conflict in order to safeguard your group. If I'm not mistaken from the days of yore when I learned this shit, it stems from the story of illiterate peasants fucking up how much oil they had left for the lights, aka Hannukah.

Seems dumb that Islam wouldn't have a very similar belief. I honestly can't picture the Israeli/Arab armies having breaks for daily prayers/Sabbath during any of their wars.

Only these people aren't apart of a trained army and are probably equal parts galvanized and frightened by what they see happening, even before the firebombing started. They may very well have a similar belief but I wouldn't be that shocked that they might opt to pray anyway as believers. Seems entirely understandable when ordinary citizens are trying to remove a dictator from power who has police and mercenaries looting and murdering.

The guy had someone from the Muslim Brotherhood on for a "debate" and then Hannity and another woman tore into the guy while he was trying to tell them that his group did not support what Iran viewed as Shirah law.

Looks like MSNBC at least is not fucking around about making it clear that the opposing pro-mubarak mob was organized and sent there. In their nightly news broadcast, everyone Lester, Brian and Richard are all safe. Something totally obvious was when they attacked camera men because all week the atmosphere towards the press was cool.

Edit: Seems they're going after people with cameras especially, due to concealibility issues, it's the easiest target I suppose.

All the Muslims went through with prayers, while all the Christians and seculars stood and guarded and protected them.

As clashes continue in Cairo's Tahrir Square, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton condemned the ongoing violence in Egypt today. Sec. Clinton encouraged Omar Suleiman, Egypt's newly appointed Vice President, to investigate the attacks against peaceful protesters and hold the perpetrators accountable.

Earlier today, Suleiman released a statement that there will be no dialogue until anti-government protesters leave the streets. "They will go home once they have confidence that the government will take serious steps," State Dept. spokesman P.J. Crowley told reporters this afternoon.

In today's daily White House briefing, Press Secretary Gibbs said, "The message that the President delivered clearly to President Mubarak was that the time for change had come." He also said that an orderly transition must include opposition voices.

According to the Associated Press, the State TV broadcast ordered all protesters to leave Tahrir Square because of "provocative elements throwing firebombs." Yesterday, an estimated million people gathered in Tahrir Square and stayed past the government’s curfew as they continued to call for President Mubarak’s immediate resignation.
