    Hmm okay.
Looks like AlJAz is in depresseducational documentary mode for a bit. The story they have on now is extremely difficult for me to follow, about the Lebanese/Palestinian/Syria/Israel "Blue Line" property line dispute. Layers and layers of property ownership papers going way back and everyone claiming theirs is more legitimate than the other.

I'd probably just go to bed, MSNBC signed off for the night, AJE is taking a break.

    @Tweet
That's rather juicy. $1,00 USD, Mubarak must be really desperate. He should really get in touch with Blackwater/Xe if he's putting out that kind of cash for people off the street.

I'm hearing many different things ranging from this to pro-mub protesters actually being police. Its hard to tell what exactly is the truth.

As far as how this ends, I think its Mubaraks decision. He could leave peacefully, or if he stays there is a chance that this shit goes French Revolution style.

I am wondering if the UN will/can get involved.

It's really a hodgepodge of pro-Mubarak, Mubarak-loyalists, and mercenaries/hired thugs.. and seemingly some desperate people too. There's surprisingly large numbers of pics floating around of NDP (Mubarak's party) and police IDs that were dropped by/seized from the pro-Mubarak factions out in the streets. Mistress posted afew links leading to these. Regardless, it's an "astroturf" response by those who oppose the revolutionary protesters.

It's been repeated several times, that Mubarak telegraphed the violence of the past day and a half in his last speech. The sudden appearence of groups of pro-Mubarak gangs, being bussed in with no interference by the military at their checkpoints, and their particular hunting of media-types and recording devices on the streets today only lends further weight to this being the case. In which case, this is a state enacting violence upon it's people. Mubarak has seemingly chosen to go down that dark and violent route.

Dunno. Any UN military stuff is mostly peacekeeping, right?
And I dunno if Egypt/Middle east will see much of a difference between US/Western and UN.

Mubarak would never allow UN forces inside Egypt, they can't exactly invade either..so.

It's possible, don't forget: right now, the Egyptian people know that American-made weapons and ammunition are the principal tools of choice by the afflictor of their oppression and suffering. The US backed Mubarak (and is only backing off now as he refuses to listen to pleas and condemnation of his actions), supplied them with weapons, and provided training/advising to the military/and police.

Maybe a multi-national force that doesn't directly answer to the US might be the only acceptible usher of transitional governance.

I will use restraint and not add this to my siggy

@Edelweiss I was asking because in the short documentary on Al Jazeera, the UN was handling the territory dispute, posted up on the lines where there is known violence between the border territories.

@Cantih I suppose I should do a Wiki-tangent and find out just what the UN does/does not do so I won't be so confused . I guess I am looking for a sort of rules of engagement kind of list of factors that justify UN participation. Factors like the fact that children are being hurt and one got shot.

There's where to start. The extent of my knowledge is, they apparently weren't useless in the Balkans in the 90's, but aren't too effective in some parts of Africa right now.

3 anti goverment supporters believed to be shot dead overnight.

Army have started arresting people this morning. Not confirmed if they were pro or anti Mubarak protestors.

UN is still a work in progress, unfortunately. I think we'll see a legitimate supranational world organization before our lives are over, but still plenty of work and power ceding to be done. This is in the hands of the Egyptian people, unless something absolutely insane happens like the army deciding to massacre the protesters.

Its also so hard to convey how excited/intrigued by this I am...this is like Christmas morning when I was 10. All the classes I'm taking now for my last semester are bull shit religion and nonpolitics classes, I'm jonesin so hard to talk to people about this lol.

The real tragedy is that this happens somewhere like Egypt where people are fighting with rocks and sticks, wish Japan would revolt like this so we'd see some sort of giant-mecha civil war on Al-Japzeera or whatever

Anti Mubarak supporters look a lot more organised now. They've built barriers overnight with check points and have lines of rubbish in front of them to set alight if pro Mubarak ppl turn up in numbers again today.

They beat back the pro Mubarak guys who were much more organised (including cars stopping on the over pass to drop off fresh supplies of Molotovs). So with a bit more organistation on the anti Mubarak side now they should hold out easier. It's hard to see passion being outlasted by sell sword types.

Army have trucked in infantry but not moving on the square. I think it's significant they dropped they off at same spot the Pro Mubarak guys were bussed into yesterday along the river. Probably setting them up as a barrier between the 2 sides.

Back from drinking beer and Al Jazeera is back to being shown on Link TV....fuck yes. Idk how I'm gunna go to sleep lol.

Edit: listening to Ban Ki Moon...god damn I wish he would go away. What a worthless shit he has been, I want to shove my foot up his ass every time I see him "express concern." He is not the leader of a country, he is leading the mother fucking United Nations, he can do more than "express concern," he doesn't have the self interest of his own nation to worry about...such a worthless tool.

It reminds me of the time the Eastern block fell apart, especially when the Berlin wall came down. The world was caugt off guard too then.

I do not know everything about Egypt and everything that has led to the revolution but, the article seems to try and delegitimize the movement as young apolitical tools. These young revolters were not tools of propaganda as the the writer of the article states, from reading statistics poverty and joblessness was a very real reality to them. And the lulz of American Thinker too(the posters) who believe this uprising is Obama`s doing that he is in with Islamist fundalmentalism. This was his doing some people.

And upon looking it up, it seems I posted a link to a conservative website.
    My apologies.

Also, good god, I never read comments to news articles or youtube videos. Down that path madness lies.
