Ah yes, forgot that was totally separate from the people within the US.
Is the violence in Sinai related to this? Seeing a ton of tweets reporting Bedouins attacking State security forces in Sinai.
Also here's the egyptian constitution in english if anyone's interested in reading or looking up references made to it: http://www.egypt.gov.eg/english/laws...n/default.aspx
Not in this thread, not now.
I can only describe the VP's and Mubarak's speeches as deliberate provocation.

Loss of Locally Employed Staff Member Khairy Ramadan Aly in Cairo
Press Statement
Hillary Rodham Clinton
Secretary of State
Washington, DC
February 10, 2011
On behalf of all the men and women of the State Department and USAID, I offer our condolences to the friends and loved ones of Khairy Ramadan Aly, a member of our Embassy family in Cairo who went missing from his home on January 28 and has now been confirmed dead. Mr. Aly was a carpenter in the Embassy’s Facilities Office with 18 years of dedicated service. We join his family, friends and colleagues in Egypt in mourning this loss. Throughout this period, many Egyptian employees of the U.S. Mission have continued to work alongside their American colleagues in Cairo and Alexandria. The United States is grateful for their contributions, commitment and sacrifice during this difficult time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the many Egyptians who have lost their lives or loved ones, been injured, or had their homes and property destroyed in recent days. As we have said repeatedly, the United States condemns violence against civilians under any circumstances. Abuses committed against those seeking to exercise basic freedoms must stop. There is a clear responsibility by the Egyptian government, including the armed forces, to protect those threatened and to hold accountable those responsible for using violence and intimidation that threatens the aspirations of the Egyptian people. We look to the Egyptian government to demonstrate to its people that it is serious about moving quickly toward genuine change

Egyptian Ambassador on right now (cnn tv) is trying to say that Mubarak has transfered all powers, but even he's not being clear at all about it either. And that 3 points that no one has authority over. One being the Parliament's dismissal, that not even the VP can dismiss then.
And VP is in charge of the Military too.
Which doesn't make sense going by the way that the people are reacting IN Egypt.
...okay, now he's saying he's clarifying the speeches made and will be telling the same to Obama, etc.
Why are you talking about two different things?
A- Other people thinking that what the US gov does outside is precisely what americans want is one thing.
B- You talking like the US gov and the american people are the same thing is something else.
Don't keep arguing with me if you were wrong or imprecise in your wording.
It's a relevant discussion.
That same ambassador made the most confusing statement ever: Mubarak is still the head of state, yet transferred all his power.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
After 20 questions of "please clarify" it's more of a figurehead kind of head of state, ...I guess?
Found this site with pics of some interesting signs, enjoy:

Spoiler: show
Might be misunderstanding what you are trying to say, but the reason giving all powers to VP would still be unacceptable as I understand it is because he's basically like Mubarak and is a part of his regime. Same shit different name and all. I believe they want Mabarak and everyone related to him to be gone from govt 100% and then elect a new govt (then again I'm not the most educated on this subject - that'd be Mistress Stowastiq probably in this thread). Don't think they've really thought about what they'd actually do if Mubarak and his govt did leave 100% though I'd guess the military would be in charge while new elections are held or something. Hadn't been watching the last couple of days though so maybe I missed some things (probably did).
Plus, the VP seems like given the chance he might actually be worse by just listening to the speeches. XD
Mubarak, shafik, suleiman have been friends for 30+ years. They are the same trash.
No, that's pretty much it. The military (atleast the lower-ranks/junior officers) have the respect and admiration of the public; so it's possible/probable they could be looked to, as stewards of the transition from the Mubarak and Friends regieme.
Although, do keep in mind that Mubarak and many others within his government have come from the military.
you pretty much hit it on the head. The people want to elect their own government, Mubarak just passing leadership to Suleiman who is basically the same guy is far from what the people want. you're also correct that more than likely the military will be in charge until they can set up an election to form a new government.
[edit] beaten lol
Because this is happening in the middle east, most democratic countries dont give a shit to what happens. World is run by bunch of hypocrites.
