Iraq makes me believe there is a chance for option 3, yo.
Too complex for me, but apparently, not for you. All this talk of Muslim unity is silly, no such thing exists and no such thing will exist.

Or maybe they can train a couple of hundred exiles, provide arms, training, and a promise of US support? Why it sounds awfully familiar. Besides, the US can always wash their hands like fucking Pilate's did.

I hope it will end more like "muslim or christian (or any other major or minor religion), we are all people. regardless of some differences."

Giving them a perspective for their future will do much more for stability than cracking down on them and installing another corrupt regime to prevent the new government being "ZOMG, MUSLIM TERRORISTS".

Looks like there is already more than a million gathered at Tahrir square and they haven't started towards the presidential palace yet. They said they will only march to the presidential palace if it is necessary, as they are hoping for a message from Mubarak and basing decisions on that. AJ English's journalists are still in covert ninja mode while they report info live to the feed video.

Really hope this has a clear view how everything will play out today.
The sooner the people win in Egypt, the sooner other countries will follow.

With any luck, maybe we'll see the people in Iran win their next attempt.

The crowd is shouting "GET OUT!" in unison lol.
I really hope there is no shooting. With only one exit and 1meter high cement barriers around the entire place, I am really concerned about potential stampede. Still, the courage of the Egyptian people, the incredible passion they have is very inspiring.

    Info:
The protests are also on Kasrir & Nile bridge right now. Everyone having to come in on foot due to massive army anti-vehicle barriers with checkpoints separating men and women to search for weapons. Local trains are shut down so these people have walked a long ass way to get there.

Color detailed pics of crowd size. Right now they say 2mil but these are guesses from correspondents.

The King of Jordan just sacked his government and promised reform. Trying to get ahead of events.
Now it depends if he can follow through, or if it's just talk. I don't know much about the man, other than he's a Star Trek fan and got himself on an episode of Voyager.

Edit: Also, U.S. orders all american government personnel and non-emergency embassy workers to leave Egypt.

Considering the desire of everyone for the US to be seen as non-involved, this is probably the right move.

Hmm.. Al-Arabiya is reporting that Mubarak will shortly announce that he plans to step down in September after the elections, and will not seek re-election. I don't think this crowd is gonna go for that:

Haaretz just posted a note on their feed saying Obama spoke to Mubarak and asked him to "step aside".

The Egyptians shouldn't have to wait until September for freedom. What kind of bullshit are they trying to pull. Suleiman, Mubarak, Shafik are all pieces of shit and corrupt motherfuckers.

Aaaaaaaaand its a big NO Deal.. GTFO!!

The Tahrir sq crowd is insanely loud and pissed off right now.

Odd the Press Sec Gibbs press conference was TBA and running its live timer on WH Live site but after the speech, the whole thing disappeared and Cspan still says "later" for it. I guess he had to re-set his answers.

Where is he anyways? Is he in Cairo? 1-2 million people, army isnt using force...just fucking kill him, hes close enough to the grave, its only one person, and he essentially just spit in the face of millions of very pissed off people asking them to call him out on it.

I understand why they don't want to get violent but jeese dude, just gtfo.

Every fucking time Gibbs speaks, I feel an intense desire to punch him in the face while looping a recording of the audio of the protesters plays. It's just something about the man, ugh.

    @Edelweiss lol love that description.
I just enjoy watching correspondents take turns re-wording their shit to try to weasel information out of him when he does nothing but say ".....Look..." Yesterday, I never heard so many different ways to ask, "Does Obama want Mubarak to gtfo?"

Perhaps the new Sec will be different because he comes from a press background. What bothers me most, coming from a pro audio background, is the constant up and down of the audio when they go from reporter to Gibbs mic.

I think he is in the Presidential Palace still because the army surrounded it with barbed-wire when they heard that the protesters were heading there next.

It is not a 'they don't want to get violent' thing, the power is in the military.

He is old school military and has surrounded himself with old school military in the last week or so, appointing upper echelon military.

The army has high respect for him. The sense is that they do not wish to shame him but at the same time are with the people, essentially the people adore the army and hold high respect for them. -So if it comes to killing, the army would have to do it and it is killing one of their own. I don't pretend to have an understanding of the fraternal bonds created between military and their upper officers but I can guess it is rather strong.

If you look at the last successions before him, the appoint a vice president routine is repeated but according to the translations, he was hinting around to his son ruling [son who is in London for safety].

Omg I just attempted to explain something political on BG I need a nap before Sath gets in here...

holy fuck lol. Dictators around the world are quaking, definitely the most interesting thing to happen for some time! I do hope the people in Yemen/Jordan don't too quickly trust what their leaders have to say now, it is probably a delaying tactic until the excitement of revolution is over.

And. I wonder if Wikileaks can take any credit for all this, as the the Tunisian revolution happened shortly after the cable about their president :O
