If you think a certain way it is a new thing, and a very easy to abuse one. Price history is what someone actually paid, price listing is what the item is for sale for. For most items this isn't any different, but for rare items, Vintage Haub, Scale Mail etc. you can easily make some big money.

    Example:
3 Vintage Haubs are for sale, 650k, 800k, and 1m, you go and buy the ones that are 650k and 800k and sell them all for 1m. It doesn't have to be a "rare" item atm really since most everything is in short supply armor wise, at least the good shit. I already did this shit already to make a profit with the current system, but with this it's even easier since I can just search and find a good deal, snatch it up, sell for my price. Since there is no sale history most people won't be none the wiser. Although at this point price hiking isn't even fun since there is nothing to do with your pile of gil.

I'm willing to bet that an AH would still come up pretty high (hopefully not second) if they polled us after implementing these changes and letting them sink in. I'm sure this won't be enough for a lot of people because as long as you have to physically move between retainers/wards/search counters and as long as you have to trade items to your retainer in a crowded area, it'll be more inconvenient than AHs present in modern games.

While I'd be content with the changes and I'd be willing to put up with the system after the update, let's not get over ourselves: we just passed EQ1 with our market system - a game that's over 10 years old.

This. Since they have no recommended price, you can simply buy all of the immediate stock of a rare item and resell it for higher prices. People get rich doing this all the time. Takes money to make money.

Yeah, that is called a free market. What actually happens is the person selling that hauby for 1M relists for 600K. People are not patient. They'll undercut each other for a few thousand gil so they sell faster. Even if someone buys them all and relists, the item supply is not finite, someone else is going to come and list theirs for less.

Undercutting (aka selling for less) is a natural part of the free market system. It is not a bad thing. It exists in our real economies in the form of sales. Please see: Nvidia vs ATI video cards. Each is constantly under cutting the other. The consoles do this as well. As do all companies in their industry.

nice updates. I think they're just making it easier to code an AH now. Least it seems that way.
