Haven't played it but heard multiplayer is f'ed up right now
Ya it kinda is one of my friends and I kept crashing after a while so we just did arena to learn some of the basics. It is a ton of fun though
If it fixes be sure to post here so I can check it out then =x
I played the Demo today and instantly fell in love with it and bought it. It's very challenging especially in combat trying to balance NOT dying and NOT killing your friends and NOT accidentally middle clicking and frying yourself.
Will be so happy when multiplayer is 100% fixed. This game will be insanely fun at that point.
The game can be pretty easily broken by using a macro keyboard or program. I don't know why someone would want to turn a game with a fun mechanic and multiple button presses into a 1-button game.
I enjoy the game as it is though, but I do wish the single player mode would save the game checkpoint by checkpoint instead of at the end of every chapter. I have faith that the developers will also fix whatever issues plague the multiplayer portion of the game as well.
Wow great game concept, I really enjoyed the demo. I don't have any friends who have it though so I don't think I could even benefit from the multiplayer unless it matches you up with random people.
The goblin boss in the demo kept raping me and I accidentally raped myself a few times by casting AoE near bombs. Very cool game though, will buy if I can find others who will play.
Multiplayer has a lobby system. People can host either Adventure or Challenge mode, but I suppose there's no way of knowing who the host or players are until you join the game, so it's random.
I could play challenge mode with other players for hours. I still haven't memorized the important spell combinations for the tomes, and what you get from the tomes is random in challenge (which adds to the challenge even more!).
I tried the demo and loved the concept. Only shitty thing is that it's a freaking bandwidth hog so I was lagging really bad the entire time... I read that even brand new machines were having issues so hopefully when they fix it, my old girl can handle it :X
great game though. It'd be fun to play with some friends and just troll each other every now and then >_>;
I think I'm going to buy it after hearing it has a lobby system.
Feel free to add me on steam: iQuench, the multiplayer looks the most fun to me.
Patch came out today that addressed a lot of crashes and multiplayer bugs.
Patch notes can be found here here
Game is insanely fun in 4 player challenge mode. At one point me and my friend accidentally cast Thunderstorm and Rain at the same time and wiped the entire group, hitting everyone for 10k+ Lightning bolts, Skype right after was hilarious :D
It's amazing how many different ways you can kill yourself and your friends in this game. It's absolutely hilarious.
GDC – SAN FRANCISCO – March 1, 2011—The wizards of Arrowhead Studios have whipped up something special for all the Magicka fans out there, today revealing the first expansion for the definitive “blow-up-your-friend” simulator that has taken the fantasy world by meteor storm. Magicka: Vietnam (yes, you read that right) will soon be available on all major digital distribution channels.
Have you ever wondered what it would have been like if wizards were allowed to roam the jungles of war-torn Vietnam, attempting to bring peace and stability to the region by casting spells on all opponents? Wait, you haven’t ever wondered that? Ever? Okay, so we’re probably the only ones who have but in our defense: here’s your chance to stop being so closed-minded. Magicka: Vietnam delivers over-the-top action as players take on the role of four meek and physically inept wizards as they try to do what so many 80’s action stars have done in the past: blow stuff up.
Lol. go swedes.
Last session with my wife and I had me fall through the world and get the defeated screen while she was still alive. She rez'd me and we continued, though I couldn't see her, hear music, or see dialogue during cutscenes. It's a testament to the awesomeness of the game that I don't care about how broken it is due to the fun factor. However, I can't imagine it being nearly so much fun solo. Half the fun is accidentally killing one another and then rezzing.
For those interested:
My friend gifted me a copy, but I haven't tried it out yet. Hopefully they fix the multiplayer issues soon.
