Anyone got any cheap computer builds from recently for work/office?

Like the title says, has anyone built anything cheap for work/office recently so I can copy over a link from newegg or whatever?

Not able to make a decent list while at work, plus sometimes it can take newegg an hour to have the link public.

Basically just the case, work computer for a firehouse for bullshit like facebook email news etc, and needs to last 5ish years since it's all donated money.

I know I can build something pretty nice for less than 500, but like mentioned, if anyone has built one recently and has a build list still available it'd be great - trying to get a setup listed for later tonight for their meeting.

If not, np, but thanks anyway.

note: they seem to be using an XP based Pentium4 2.26ghz with 512mb ram and onboard video.

Hopefully I can keep an i5 quad under 600 with micro atx/case, but doubtful. Sub 500 would be fantastic. Shit, anything would be better than a P4.

Sorry in advanced for any errors, doing this from my phone.

I built something along this line for my grandmother when the original i3/i5 processors came out. Many things of course can be swapped out, like the motherboard for a different model (as in a cheaper one, or one with built in video). Currently comes out to around $500 before any taxes, or shipping fees.

Pretty sure you could get away with 1-2GB of RAM & a way cheaper processor.

Cheapest i5 on newegg....probably cheapest one you can find unless OP heads over to microcenter.

If youre looking for cheap, youre better off just buying a Dell.

    Thanks for your list.

Now that I'm home, I threw together a decent i3 build for 450ish. I could probably drop the case/psu and grab the one you linked, giving me the option to jump to i5. The i3 I picked has a -20$ combo with a biostar mobo which is why I went with it for now. Not a bad start.

    Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811147073
    PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817170016

Like I said, It's a start. Gotta see how much they can actually shell out. Going with the case+psu instead of separate is about 18-20$ in savings, can probably get away without a gpu since the only games played on it are probably going to be facebook lol.

I "could" get away with a lot of things, ram etc as mentioned. But they want this to last as an office computer to do charting on after fires for example. Getting 5years out of it would be a plus. I'll have to ask how long they've had their current computer, it's a P4 2.26ghz, I'm sure they spent a pretty penny on it when they got it.
