Gamestop Question

Ok simple question: I have a Wii that will not read discs. Every time you try to play a game it has a disc read error. Will gamestop take these at trade in, even at a lower value? I googled this beforehand and found mixed answers.

Yes they will take it. However you will get less back due to a refurbishing fee. You'd probably only get around $20 if that. Just make sure you have all of the things to go with it: remote, nunchuk, cables, etc.

Speaking of Gamestop and having a question. I won a copy of Halo Reach collectors edition at my work (best buy) holiday party (not the big box, but the other one) and I have no brobox and no friends who want to buy it.

How much could I get from gamestop, or should I try to return it to wal mart and get store credit even though I have no receipt?

I could craigslist but that's a hassle and a half with my limited schedule.

sell it on Ebay or Amazon. Gamestop will rip you off. Though you did get it for free.
I couldn't tell you how much they'd give you for it, but they will screw you over.

Try and return that bitch at Wal-Mart, those LE's are selling for shit on ebay right now, you can buy legendary's at gamestop right now(which include the LE content) for 59.99, and halo only trades in for 15 right now. Even with promotions you could get 24 bucks in trade in tops.

Gamestop? yes they will.

Yeah, with out a barcode they just have to search for the game while they do the trade in. Computer will print one out for them.

Yea they will take them, but will just throw the game in a generic case.

Also, don't know if its my area to crack down on stolen games but my store won't even take new/wrapped copies of games. They need to be opened lol

It's probably so they can classify them as "used". Might be some legal drawbacks from buying new products for a certain price only to sell them again at a higher price.

correct. company policy only allows to take used merchandise. so it has to be opened/used. and once theyve seen it sealed you cant just open it in front of them either.

the legal thing is because they dont take stolen property. if its new and sealed, why cant you return it with a receipt? they've had several arrests of employees for knowingly taking stolen merchandise just to get used product.

Right, mainly what I do, if the person isn't a gigantic dick to me when I tell them we can't take a sealed game since my store is in a mall with two other stores in it, I just tell them to walk up there and open it on their way there.

Edit: I had one lady who bought a game that was my last copy of it, so I had to give them the floor case (which we open and gut to display the box) and she claimed that I had no proof the game I pulled out of the drawer was brand new and she thought I was scamming her........

btw, OP, you can give comparing Amazon's trade-in values for Gamestop's to see which works out the best. And if you haven't already, you might be able to save the wii with softmodding to play without discs.

The thing with Amazon is their price offers aren't far off of ours, but they fuck you with shipping. But you are right, if you can get more money from Amazon do it. But keep in mind they do stiff you on shipping.

Was wondering how they dealt with that as I haven't tried it, was hoping they'd institute something like free printable shipping labels if you went over a certain dollar amount akin to reverse super saver.
