Thread: Firefox 4.0 (beta)    

What master troll is responsible for this bullshit? I upgraded because 3.6's addon container was lagging my balls off, and in 2 days here's just a few things I've found absolutely infuriating:

*Back/forward buttons are gone, as is the Alt+Arrow key shortcut for these things. Technically they're still there but you have to right click them and select a page from a dropdown menu. You can't just click Back.
*It fucks with fonts.
*Bar on the bottom of the window that let you see the url of a link you're mousing over is gone. The bar's there but it doesn't show the url.
*Refresh button is on the right side of the address bar for no fucking reason.
*Address bar doesn't change from the last address you typed no matter which tab you're in or how many new links you click. I CANNOT ADEQUATELY RELATE HOW OBNOXIOUS THIS IS.

My biggest question with this shit is basically just, why? Who asked for these things? How are they supposed to be an improvement?

Never before have I so seriously considered switching to IE.

I used it for a day when i was first released, and then uninstalled it. That shit is retarded.

View -> Status Bar?

Right-click an empty space between the buttons and select Customize. Drag n' Drop the Refresh button where you'd prefer it to be on the bar.

No such thing. It's called the "Addon bar" but like I said, it doesn't preview a link's url.

Like I said, the back/forward buttons are there, they're just perpetually greyed out and unclickable. You have to right click them to use them and the shortcut doesn't work regardless.

Also, no idea what you're talking about on the URL/link thing.

Yeah, there's no status bar, which is a major reason why i went back to 3.6. I want to be able to see the entire url when i hover over a link, half of it isn't even close to good enough.

You can however just drag the refresh button over.

The status bar was moved to the address bar. When you hover over a link, it'll cut half of the address bar off so it has room to display half of the link. I don't remember if there's a setting for that, or if it just does it, and i don't have it installed to check, but it definitely does have it, even if it is retarded.

refresh is hiding between the address bar and the google search bar. Move it over to the left and it will combine with stop loading button like it should be.

Forward/Back buttons work fine for me. Must be a porblem with your install.
I don't see any difference in my fonts. Example?
It makes more sense to show it in the location bar.
Grouping navigational icons makes sense. It isn't wrong, just different.

I do when I'm just reading. If I'm typing I'll use the shortcut I mentioned for back/forward and F5 for refresh. It still doesn't make any sense to completely remove something because you think, "who actually uses that?"

It works fine when I downgrade to 3.5, and like I said the Alt+Arrow shortcut doesn't work which is my main concern. Are we talking about the same Firefox 4.0 beta? I'm running version 10.

I never used alt+arrow but I just checked and it does work for me. Same beta version too.
