lol? Just quickly scan over resolutions, and download the first one that is HD. It's not that hard.

Why the hell are we even arguing this. It's not a lot of money, regardless of if you consider it a fair value, not some kind of wop style excess.
And it's not even YOUR money. If you think I'm dumb for doing it, fine, whatever, piss off.
No, i think you're dumb for thinking hulu is easier, when it's really not.

How can you not own a USB flash drive? >.>
    Because $8 is expensive, brah.

My apologies, it was Kerb who argued price.

I have to say I agree with you somewhat, only that we don't get hulu and netflix in Sweden, so I chose a newsserver instead. I've never found a torrent where I can download at max speed from the get-go, which you're guaranteed to do with a newsserver - and you can also watch it while downloading.

You never need to worry about maintaining a good ratio either, if you use a streaming service.

hulu is great for casual watchers, but shitty and disappointing for anyone who's even slightly curious about: foreign films/tv, anime, indy films/shorts/docus, etc.

The internet has spoiled us with the power of discovering shit, with little effort, which I would have never known existed if my options were left in the hands of whitey and his lame media conglomerates.

And now, back to some Panty Stockings, followed by an afternoon of K-dramas and this Troll movie from the Swedes. What's an MPAA?

Oh believe me, If I can't get something off hulu+, it's off to the wild parts of the internet I go. But it takes a good bite out of the number of cable, missed, and doubled up timeslots I have to download shows for.

May I ask which of our sucky movies you are watching?

'cause, I have to admit, the majority of our movies suck. Good Swedish movies come maybe once per decade, with the exception of the Millenium trilogy - at least the first one.

On topic, are Bell/Rogers not allowed to offer unlimited internet plans? Were they forced to only let the small ISPs do this so that there was a competitive market for people to choose?

If Bell/Rogers are just worried that people are leaving their company because they need unlimited internet, they should just make theirs unlimited. I would go with Bell if they offered unlimited internet for 10 dollars more and even if they capped it at 5Mbps down. I understand that they are trying to compensate losses from people canceling TV and watching online, but anything over 10 cents/gig is robbery.

If it is all about fairness, they should just have a flat 10-20 dollar flat fee and charge 5 cents/gig of usage. I don't know exactly what their profits are for people using the internet, but it's gotta be pretty damn high.

We have Shaw (Rogers) unlimited higher speed option in our household bundled with digital TV and home phone for something like 170 bucks. The internet by itself would be 85 bucks.

ahh, yeah I don't know why I thought it was Swedish lol Although, I did watch The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo recently, was pretty good. Only other Swedish film that I can think of seeing was 'The Boss of it All'.... and imdb tells me that was Icelandic lol

Well, I guess you're right, but I do know Swedish hip hop is pretty tight. Looptroop is the shizz.

Sorry for the necro, but when I was checking slashdot for SOPA/PIPA stuff, saw this.

    Good news
    http://news.slashdot.org/story/11/11...-based-billing
In a somewhat surprising end to the ongoing fight between large ISPs (a duopoly in Canada), and independent ISPs, the CRTC has ruled in favor of the small ISPs. This means that independent ISPs can continue to have unlimited plans offered to customers.

Now if only my small ISP who is renting from Bell's lines from their end wasn't more of a jew also.....

Good news for Teksavvy users though.

Thanks for necroing this I forgot about it. The whole thing is pretty disappointing though because it was never going to get better for consumers, only how much worse it will get. They're still going to charge based on speeds now.

No, for wholesale clients it was just charged on lines, the idea is to promote competition against the big 4.
