It's quite a shame really. It's the first game in the series to allow us to go over the 9999 HP cap and it is relatively worthless with the exception of a couple of fights. It is however, infinity more useful than Break MP Limit.
How many skill sluts do you have available?
4
Break HP limit is fine for shit up to the final boss, but for post game shit like secret boss(es), dark aeons, etc you're usually gonna be getting killed in one hit regardless, quite a few of the dark aeons are perfectly capable of throwing out 99999 damage.
You don't need it AT ALL up til the final boss. Nothing hits hard enough for you to really make any use of it.
It's a complete waste before then since nothing will be flooring you. Any time you'd use it, something like auto-item would be better.
You can take more hits with it up to the final boss. After that, most of the time you're gonna be getting 1 shot, therefore it's absolutely worthless at that point. Yeah other skills might be better suited, but break HP limit actually has some use.
Just use auto-item, forget max hp and then you don't have to care about using your spheres for raising your HP when you could be raising STR instead.
or was it auto-regen that was good? I can't remember
SOME SHIT
Is there auto cure? Is that good?
auto-potion
and considering x-potions restore 9999 (and aren't hard to get a ton of), it's pretty much gdlk
hi-pot spamming is good too actually, 1k hp returned when you get hit and you can just buy those... the only thing is, you have to be careful not to have any potions or hi-potions when you want to fight something where you want x-potion spamming to occur
so... yeah
Oh, or you could use Rikku's trio of 9999 and that'd turn potions into x-potions for that battle
Also after you say all that I'm not really sure if I should put break HP limit on my items. Tidus is already at the 9999 cap but it's like you said I'm not sure it's worth the slot.
I'm not really sure if I like the idea of auto-regen though, because for anything that regen would be useful for I wouldnt need it. Literally regen is only useful in places where it's not needed--unless there's some situation I cant think of
Anytime you're using regen you're recovering small amounts of HP per each persons turn... I guess with everyone hasted and if you have the mob either slowed or hasted and you're using mostly quick hit you could probably auto-regen to full 9999 before the next mob attack, I think regen is proportional to HP but any battles where I'm not one shot I feel I need auto-regen.
