I thought it was supposed to help online, in what way did it kill it?
I thought it was supposed to help online, in what way did it kill it?
No idea what happened in 1.04 but idk, my view of the online changed drastically last night even in 1.03. 6 hours of Blue Eye Orbing all the wrong places, for maybe 4 invasions the entire time. I was 100% on board for the 'it's so broken' wagon. Hit up Demon Ruins, and an easy 10 Reprisals in less than 2 hours. Constant hits.
Just have to hit up the popular spots, there's people to be had. And like I said I don't know why Demon Ruins is so popular, it's a nice soul farming spot but that can't be it. And I doubt Demon Firesage is some kind of powerhouse that people are using humanity to summon help.
Been sitting at Gwyn, upgrading medium armor, and amassing humanity/titanite. So far I've upgraded Knight, Silver Knight, Black Knight, Solaire's, and Brass armor to +5/9, waiting to see which would be better to replace my Elite Knight's set.
Started this character with a Pyromancer motif, mainly used Pyromancy and a Fire/Lightning Hand axe, but I'll need to change gears when the update does hit. I'm SL36 but I've only 12 STR and 13 DEX, so I'll probably re-roll this character once I get all the miracles.
I don't think any of those beat out Elite Knight's set except maybe in the hands. I use Paladin+5 hands and rest Elite Knights+10.
Right now solaire's helm is better than elite knights imo (not to mention there's tons of other situational hats to use, dusk crown, masks, etc), it's really only the chest/legs that are worth using.
Finally got my plat... now to wait for the patch and roll out a new character to experience the changes
Really odd to hear that standard knight's beats out Elite Knights. Is Ornstein's armor still not upgradeable? How's Eastern set now?
http://darksouls.lljk.net/ has all the new stats
Elite knight still has higher defenses, regular knight has better poise and is slightly lighter.
The patch probably won't be out here for a while thou.
Just picked this up for the 360 after playing the fuck out of Demon's Souls the last 2 weeks. Was wondering 1.) did I fuck up by picking wanderer lol and 2.) is there any collection of beginner tips of shit to keep an eye out for or particularly good things to grab early on?
Character creator primed me for frustration and despair really well, forgot how ugly everything turned out in Demon's Souls.
Starting class doesn't matter in this game either, and make sure you pick the master key as your starting gift. Until we get the patch, master key is still going to be the best starter gift. Make sure to loot that graveyard in firelink shrine when you get there; lots of good items in there. Someone posted the official guide PDF somewhere here. That's useful for maps if you get desperately lost. As for early equipment: http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/The+Bridge+Wyvern and watch the video at the bottom (skip to ~2:30). That Drake Sword you get for doing that is good early on and lasts a while.
Old witches ring is decent starter gift as well imo, if you like monster girls.
You can get it somewhere; where exactly is escaping me at the moment. The master key is the only real choice unless you go thief. Thief gets it automatically.
I did a speed run using the master key. Valley of Drakes > Darkroot > Burg > Unlock Elevator, Go back to Asylum to get Old Ring and Doll, Valley of Drakes > Skip all of Blighttown > Kill Queelag > Kill Gargoyles.
The master key is worth it because you can skip all the shittyness that is Blighttown.![]()
Yeah character creation is fucking awesome in Dark Souls. I totally glossed over the customize button on my first character, but definitely not making that mistake from now on. I picked Wanderer for my second character. I don't regret it. As the others have said, classes don't matter as much as gifts in Dark Souls.
Pyromancer and uhhh another class starts out with a higher total amount of stat points over every other class, so that may influence what you choose to start as
Generally, it only matters if you want absolute stat efficiency to keep your SL as low as possible because the difference is negligible. I wouldn't recommend picking Pyromancer if you plan on being a melee orientated character- in that case, Warrior is the best (9 of all un-used stats, lowest u can get).
BG should choose a zone to duel/invade one another. It'd be nice to get organized fights going.
Problem with that is getting everyone in the correct lobby, an endeavor of frustration if I ever heard one.
