The reviewer makes it sound like the game is larger than DS, but I thought its similar in size?

The pre-reviews are making this sound hope crushing difficult
I have seen uhh... a lot of streams in the last two days.
I think that it is going to be very very difficult for people that:
a) haven't played Demon's Souls
b) are the type that want to run through a game, swinging at whatever moves
c) solely squeaked by every DS boss with cheap, glitchy, fighting
d) don't like awesome
For those of us that are used to the fighting mechanic, much more importantly the parry and riposte, I think it will be just a bit more difficult than DS in. I think that a bit of what makes this more difficult for us:
a) rarely is it 1v1 with mobs
b) mobs counter hard, seen so many careless fools swinging away at a group of skeles only to get countered and one shotted. So funny.
c) Bosses are badass
Tracking, of you by mobs/bosses, is far better. It is very hard to run behind every mob for a backstab, etc. You still can backstab a lot of slower enemies though. It is just that there are more quick enemies. Mobs know where you are and will follow you pretty goddamn far. Mobs aren't 'stupid' either. I have seen some very cautious mobs that will wait for you to approach them, shield up, ready to parry until then.
I really can't wait. All that said, I have seen people get very far in this game in the last 3 or so days completely solo, without using much more than a decent shield, patience and good timing on attacks. I think this game is going to drive people insane, but I DON'T think it is super crazy unfair hard. I really do think that the most important three things will be target locking/tracking, proper blocking/parrying, and knowing when to double hand a weapon for that extra 50% dmg.
lol ended my workout early cause i was thinking of dark souls the whole time i was lifting, didnt even pay attention to the hott asian girl booty in my face doing stiff-legged deadlifts (well, I did a little I suppose)
BACK TO STREAMS WHILE I STUDY
don't feel like bumping demons' souls thread so http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/22/at...ort-into-2012/ server support continued into 2012
If you want to beat this by the time DS comes out. Level up endurance. Play without distractions. Take your time. Pick a weapon you think is awesome and use Demonsouls wiki to check out what stats you need to focus on to boost it.
start as a royal, soul arrow owns shit early on
Patience and timing is the most important thing. Take your time with monsters, sometimes with bosses you will dodge and block for few minutes before you can land any hits but dont get discouraged. Sometimes you will do shit damage and fights will take forever. Do not overextend yourself. Personally it's what got me in most trouble in DmS. I'd hit a boss or a mobs too many times depleting my stamina gauge and did not have enough left to block the incoming attacks which led to death.
I'd imagine a lot of people are playing demon's souls atm with dark souls releasing in 2 weeks so have fun with the invaders. I may have to load my game file to have some fun ruining peoples day.
Ya they have a ton of people playing, and have been for a couple of months now
Learn to target lock asap.
I didn't and goddamn it made things far more difficult than they had to be.
I saw this today, may have to convince my friend to let me hand hold him through a few levels this weekend to alleviate some of this waiting. 11 days -.-
From what I have seen, the early fireball spell in DkS owns pretty heavily early on as well. I have seen some people using it doing nearly 2 to 3x as much damage as most weapons people have early on.
and shamelessly bump that thread. I sure as hell did. People around here are still playing too
Is the LE supposed to sell for the same price as the normal edition?
Yes, it's a free upgrade for pre-ordering.
Neat, grabbing that one then!
I am hearing they are out of LE at a lot of Gamestops, not sure about elsewhere but either way I would get going. Sounds like you are all set though.
There is also a badass looking hardcover guide being put out by Future Press. They really do killer guides. I may have to order that too, to use on NG+. It looks pretty amazing.
