Black Knight before Undead Burg boss: I just cleared the area and firebombed him.

Black Knight at the top of the single tower: Lured him down, firebombed him >.> Goes fast with Drake Sword special, just make sure to use it after he attacks (use firebombs after they swing too) Probably about 15-20 bombs. Think you can backstab them as well.

Armored Rhino: Thwack it's head a lot to rbeak off armor or some shit (gives a rhino helm), after that, stab it in the ass (for real it's got no armor there), and you can also lure it into the fire.

Armored Rhino, get behind it, backstab, problem solved. Even easier if you have the drake sword, because it's a one hit kill with it. Just roll to dodge and keep getting behind it otherwise.

For the black knights, the one in front of the blue tearstone ring in the burg, you can get his attention and then haul ass back to the building where the hollow were throwing firebombs off the top and snipe him down with spells/firebombs/arrows. The one at the top of the spiral staircase in front of the Parish, open with a backstab (if you don't do a full tilt forward on the analog stick you can sneak up behind him pretty easy), and then you can either engage him on the stairs (half the time he swings at nothing if you're below him), or run him down to the area with the armored boar and force him to keep walking through the fires there until he kills himself.

    My turn for questions:

    1) Upgrading: What should I bother upgrading? I've just been using the Drake Sword, and i'm about to hit the sewers, around Lv.18.

    2) Stats: How important are they? I feel underlevelled, since I started Warrior, put a few points in STR (to use Drake Sword), Endurance, four in Attunment, then spent souls on Heal + Force (~8000 souls?), toss in all the god damn arrows/fire bombs, i'm wondering if at this point, I should have 4 or 5 levels more in another stat, would it make a dif?

Well damn, I didn't know it dropped a helmet if you let it have it straight to the face. qq

    1) I haven't bothered upgrading much yet, if you're using the drake sword you can probably neglect a lot of upgrades outside of armor until the stat scaling makes something better than the sword.

    2) Dunno, personally I've been spreading myself kind of even with the exception of faith. It's my lowest stat at 8ish and everything else is 12+, haven't encountered any real serious issues rolling that way. Endurance and Vitality probably help the most though, outside of reqs to equip better weapons and armor.

Has armor upgrading helped much? I see like.. 2 points of defense for an upgrade and wonder if it's worth it.

As for stats, i've put STR to 16 (was at like 13 or 14 to begins with), 4 in Endurance, rest faith/attunment to fit reqs for heal/force, but thats it. i feel like i should have like 20 in each or somethin >_>

I still haven't seen a confirmation that the helmet from the Boar only drops if you kill it in its face. I think it is just a rare drop, as I have seen people get it from firing arrows at its ass. There are a few of those. SO FAR the only contextual items I know of are the items you get for severing tails.

I'm confused. Does the flask start at +1 and then downgrade later? I remember having 10 uses then it went to 5 then back to 10 once I upgraded it. Or is it the telling you no more easy mode?

the upgrade from the soul witch makes it +1, kindling fires makes it 10 instead of 5

The first fire outside of the Asylum fills it to 10, every fire after that is only 5 unless you spend humanity to kindle it.

Speaking of which, if people didn't already know, don't use your Fire Keeper's Souls. Take them to the soul witch or prepare to qq about wasting them in the future.

    Ahh, alright. Thanks.

Is there a way to kill that priest that soul arrows you from above? I can't seem to lock on to him and I have no bow.

So what's a good strategy to use against the two Bell Gargoyles? Maneaters gave me a good deal of trouble in Demons' Souls and this isn't any easier.

I'm perfectly fine in taking the first one down to 1/2, but as soon as the second joins in they just go to town on me.

There's a staircase to the left of the altar that goes up to where he is. He's pretty easy when you're up close.

Defense, try to get them apart from each other. There's not really any "easy" ways to do it, but you should be able to block their attacks with the Knight's shield, so just block-swing-block-swing-get the fuck away when your stamina is low. Once the main one goes down the backup one is pretty easy, their breath can be avoided entirely and they're completely vulnerable while they're spewing it too.

minor edit, but the only thing I can think of that'd make it easier is that the main one can hit the sub gargoyle with his breath, and a single hit of it took off almost half of it's health bar. Wouldn't count on it though, only saw it happen once or twice.

I just went up on the side stairs. I charged in then ran back to let a wave of minions come after me. Once I was done with them, the priest was a joke in melee.

Shit I didn't know the armored boar dropped its armor. I killed it by exploiting the ledge back at the gate. Lure it back, haul ass on the ledge, nail it with arrows when it starts walking back.

Btw is Fire Keeper Soul worth holding onto or use it for the Estus Healing+? Anyone find another use for it, like npcs and such?

derp, totally forgot to respond to this, but yeah, I didn't really see any huge jumps in performance with +1's on the starting gear. I'm sure it gets better (maybe?) with more +'s, but I'm just kind of holding out for some sort of replacement armor still.

If what Grae said about people getting it from sniping it's ass is true, then it doesn't matter and it isn't a contextual kill. Actually, if it doesn't drop right when you shatter it's helmet, then it's probably just a rare drop.

Fire Keeper Souls are just for the Estus + as far as I know. Well, that and making you bang your head against the wall if you don't know what you're doing and end up using one for a temp +5 charges on the flask.

I have seen a few different people claim to see the Boar Helm drop from backstabbing kills, environment kills (fire), arrows, and face kills. So I absolutely think it is random. I do think that you can get the Asylum Demon (Tutorial Boss) Hammer if you kill him the FIRST time you see him before you go through the door. That pretty much limits it to a very very long fight with a busted sword, or NG+, or Black Fire Bombs.

My Gargoyle strat was definitely using Sunbro Meatshield, as I wanted to sever the tail. He actually mutilated the first one, and it hit 50% HP so fast. I didn't sever the tail on the first until the 2nd had already showed up. It wasn't/isn't a straight to inventory drop either (like the Drake Sword) but you have to pick it up. No idea if it would be there if I had died.

Also, I forgot to ask... I was hanging out at the bonfire AFKing last night, and when I came back I had 11 Flasks. 10 makes sense because I had kindled it once (you can go higher than 10 also I believe) but not sure why I had 11. Is it possible that being at the bonfire when someone else kindles in their world grants you a flask? I found it very odd.

My favorite lol moment so far was learning that resting at the bonfire does NOT despawn enemies. Well not Black Knights at least. Pissed one off, booked it to Bonfire... sat down... and was stabbed in the back of my head. Dying, however, that reset him =P
