Dark Souls: Prepare to Die (PS3/360/PC)

Do you have a Pyromancer's flame? You have to have it equipped to use any pyromancies.

Also, I've managed to piss off pretty much every covenant NPC you can so far! I joined the forest covenant, but "betrayed" them by attacking Shiva's ninja-buddy so I could get the flippy-ring. Joined Blades of the Darkmoon and pissed them off by wandering into Gywndolin's boss area. Can't join the Darkwraith's because I already gave the Lordvessel to Kingseeker. Joined the Gravelords but killed Nito, so I can't re-join the covenant. The only ones left for me iirc are the Princess Guard (Not going faith build until NG+!), Way of White (Same as before), Dragons (Well, okay), and Keepers of Chaos, whom I've already maxed out.

So word to the wary, be careful with the covenants!

The NPC in the Belltower supposedly erases all negative aspects you could have when dealing with an NPC. i.e: if you attacked the npc but left it alive, he'll absolve you of sin, and you can start fresh :3 it costs a mother fucking fortune as you go up in level tho (118,000 souls @ SL 56 or somethin for me)

For those of you farming souls without the glitch posted in the video a couple times in this thread...

When I needed the 20,000 souls to GET to that area, what I did was go back to where you start the game, in the Asylum. In the big room where you fought the Asylum boss, avoid the center, and go to the first bonfire. Use it, run into the room, kill the 2 undead, run along the sides and through the other door, there are 4 more zombies there to kill. Takes about 1 1/2 minutes to kill 'em, run back to bonfire, respawn em, gives 100 souls each. Did that til I had 20,000, then off to the forrest.

It's 2000 souls per Soul Level of your character.

Got my souls back and quickdraw katana. I don't like blight town very much at all. Sewers please :< Reminds me slightly of 5-1 where you can fall down everywhere and that's one of my most hated levels D:

Nothing like shitting away 14k souls after killed the Drake dragon because you simply forget to pick up your souls in a farming pattern gone wrong due to falling

All well, got the Drake sword. So far I've cleared everything I want in the undead castle. Just farming for the 20k now

Does this game have a lot of replayability? Thinking about picking it up, but if it's the same ol stuff just with a different class after you beat it the first time I'll probably wait until it drops in price.

The game gets considerably harder after the first play through, then a little harder each time after that. There's also some stuff you can't do in a single playthrough, like getting all weapons

The guide has everything listed out, I don't think any of the wikis have caught up with it yet. I'm using Bandit's Knife / Winged Spear both at +5 on my mage until I can start doing the better upgrades later on

Hmm...Forest Hunters suddenly turned on me after I killed a player for them. I ended up throwing Shiva over the edge when he turned on me. Not sure why. Anyone have any clues?

does anyone play without a shield? i sort of want to rock a big two handed weapon. thoughts, ideas?

You'd have to rock some fairly light armor for added mobility to get away with it.

I personally wouldn't want to try it, but I got lucky with getting the Black Knight shield off the first knight I killed, so I'm already used to turtling up for days against most mobs.

Been playing around in Anor Londo, there's some really nice loot in there. Including Havel's armor/shield set and his weapon, the Dragon Tooth. The Dragonslayer Greatbow was there as well, the one that fires arrows so big they look like spears. The area boss completely destroyed me though.

I went back to the Asylum first and got the Crest Shield, it has 80% magic damage reduction. Then I lol'd while the butterfly shot magic at me and once it landed I just slashed it to death.

Regarding requirements and the reduced effectiveness of weapons. It seems like lowered str requirements results in lack of ability to swing the weapon properly, while lowered dexterity doesn't inhibit the natural swing motions, it lowers the damage. Anyone notice this? Clearly don't have enough str to wield great axe, and the swinging motion was labored, but lacking dex for the Iaito, and it swings fine.

how are you surviving the asylum? the stray demon is np for me but i cant make it past the first damn knight that is just chillin by the broken down cells.

Anyone else been having issues with the game freezing or crashing? It's completely frozen for me about 3 or 4 times in the last couple of days. I'm not sure if there's something wrong with the game or if it's my PS3 giving out. I think it might be the PS3, I've seen weird stuck vertices in several places and on the one other game I've seen it happen on - MvC3 - I heard it was an issue with the PS3 overheating or something like that.

I'm gonna start backing up my saves from now on just in case :/
