Shen was talking about Malacite I think. At least that's what the post looked like to me.

This game hasn't been friendly to new players for years, which was triggered and locked into place when everyone and their mother began having a handful of level-capped jobs. No amount of accommodation will change the fact that the overwhelming majority of the game has no reason to dabble in lower-level activities. Square's goal has quite plainly been, and should plainly be, to maintain the attention of its current playerbase.
I like it!
I don't mind doing level sync parties, though it's a bit of a drag compared to the speed of an Abyssea party. The exp boost in standard non-abyssea exp parties is a very welcome change IMO, will give me a chance to level some jobs that I had originally wanted to key whore via abyssea parties. Also the skill up boost will give me some incentive to pick my WAR back up and get it to 90.
You could apply that logic to any update FFXI has made in the past with regards to low level areas. Fact of the matter is the game isn't dying I see constantly 2kish which are around 400 below the average I remember seeing in 2004 for my server. None of these updates are going to bring the game back to 2006, but they are bringing A LOT of business back, servers are far more populated even after the server merge ESPECIALLY when abyssea came out.
Not to mention they are trying to change the current problem, unless you're just too ignorant to see the improvement to getting to level 30 (If you wanna be a keyfag), having the skill for your level, and actually being able to get good EXP while PLAYING (not keying) to abyssea range.
Fact of the matter none of these updates are going to "Fix" FFXI because it simply isn't broken, as said it was less friendly to new players (which has significantly changed) but that's not really even the case anymore. And I don't know about anyone else but my list on things that need to be fixed is getting smaller and smaller.
tldr: You don't even have an argument, your just rambling goawai
Perhaps on your server it may be easy to attain 30 but here on valefor its a pain in the ass. You mostly have to solo the entire way, which does take a while in itself, even with fov and even if you were to have a PL. My point is valid in itself, no need to get pissy about it. I agree more than likely at this point appealing to the current playerbase rather than new subscribers is maybe a good move, but in a business sense it's completely stupid. And you can talk about ffxi isnt dieing all you wish, when abyssea came out my server shot up to almost 5k players on server at almost all times of the day, lately, it's a drab 1.5 to 2k, almost 3k players off your server is a lot missing. Games old, old game needs fresh things to appease people, or people simply, move on. Abyssea does get boring no matter how fun it was when it came out. of course to each their own, i find content i can rape easily boring, i require a challenge, and competition element with rewards to enjoy the game itself. that part imo, maybe not yours, is what makes it fun. Cause lets be honest, people who have no idea whats going on in this game can obtain atmas thru PUG and be boss in abyssea. This is just my thoughts, no need to troll them.
And in what way will an overhaul of low-level EXP change any of that?
No, really, any of it? It will pose a new challenge? Pose new competition? bring more older players back to the game?
As its been said, you have no argument. You're simply rambling about random tangents that have nothing to do with your irrational hatred of leeching in Abyssea.
I didn't realize i had to have an arguement to post what i think on the current happenings of ffxi, excuse me for inputting my two cents in, i have played this game for quite some time now and i feel i am allowed to. I posted on how it's a stupid business move to choke out new subscribers when honestly ffxi doesnt have much going for it atm to even get by another year or two. The challenge element of the game being gone was another opinion of mine on what i enjoy out of this game, sorry you failed to see that, and that you didnt have the common sense to separate it from the exp discussion, i guess you just needed more posts to raise that awesome count. Thanks for your input, its noted, now go troll something else.
So we've established that TehKerm is butthurt. Can we move on now?
The only legitimate point he has is that indeed FFXI has 2011 to show where the game is going beyond all the simplification of things that should have been simplified 3 or so years ago. I applaud SE for the extreme change of direction even if it took the initial collapse of XIV for it to happen.
Abyssea is/was great but it won't be keeping players glued to the game with how easy things have become to complete. They have us all listening currently but Abyssea will be a hard show to top and I can already forsee people resisting any shift back to "old" content, especially with how unbalanced things were pre-Atmas. Some jobs are going to take a huge hit when we're all detoxed off the Atmas.
The game could easily go back to the way it was in 2009 except this time without the safety net of timesinks if you want to be a negative Nancy.
Thats all im trying to relay, sorry if it came off differently, wasnt intended to be so.
Don't like leechers in abyssea? Don't put up with them.
Problem solved.
Well, I think most people are referring to leechers in PUGs.
Even so, I don't see why anyone cares. If your XP sucks for some reason, it's not because 1, 2 or even 6 people are leeching.
The only justifiable reason to hate leechers is if they're ganking expensive shit from gold boxes or KIs without asking permission - but I have yet to see a PUG tolerate that shit.
If that's not the reason, then you're likely just butthurt you're not the one leeching too.
The key is to be the leader and leech, that way when you steal stuff they can't kick you.
Can Europeans please date threads properly if they're going to post update threads? When I look for new threads I see the title and think this is olde except it was posted 2 days ago, or can mods make it mm/dd/yyyy please?
No one cares and this is quite a silly request because it will always be dated wrong for someone. In fact you're probably trolling. However...
If the mods actually want to address the problem for everyone, just institute a "no date in subject line" rule and people can look at the date in the forum's automatically provided description:
Spoiler: show
Everything always gets posted to BG on the same day as the date in the subject line, so it's just as good and always formatted to each user's preference.
