Bitches and booze for WHOEVER is/was responsible!
These changes are great and all but it bothers me that there's no mention of transportation and content. Can't they just say something like "yes, we'll make anima regen faster!" or "yes, we'll allow you to use those airships and chocobos you've seen since beta!" Lately I have been only logging on to do locals and I end up with the same anima I had the day before just from teleing from town to town because of how slow it regens.
"Quests" and "public company quests" are on par for the typical SE vagueness we've received for the past 7+ years. If we had things to do while leveling up (which from most MMOs I've played is the best part of the game) I could tolerate the game more. Changing the UI doesn't change the fact that as Gladiator all I'm doing for an evening of leves is the same three or four skills for hours in the same leves I've been doing for 10+ levels because the only other ways to gain exp are behests or straight up grinding mobs old school style (I've had my share of facerolling for evenings and mindless mob grinding from XI, thanks SE).
Anyway, I've ranted enough. These changes are a step in the right direction but that's it; a step. They need to take giant leaps in the direction of real content and worry less about naming conventions and jumping if they want to keep this game afloat.
SE's never taken a leap in their careers outside of the original Final Fantasy. Give them a minute to learn how to stand up, then hop, then jump, then leap. This shit looks good as a start.
After reading that table again I hope the local leve adjustment is tomorrow as well. Still can't believe I'm getting Rank 1-5 locals on a 25 Carpenter.
Not trying to troll but some of those changes even have me saying what the fuck and lol they still don't get it.
I'm holding back a little, because this is yet another letter from Yoshi that made me jump up and down inside with joy - but have yet to see anything except letters promising me what I want to hear.
Still keeping the faith, but its sort of like saying to a dying man in a desert "I have an ice cold glass of water that I'll give you very soon."
Can't wait for this MMO. Getting my preorder ASAP.
I know that XIV won't be any good in a while, so these personal news / letters are the only things that keep me from destroying the installation CD.Afterwards, I noticed a number of posts criticizing me for my light-hearted tone. I apologize. Sometimes my personality gets the better of me. I hope you’ll be kind enough to allow me a certain amount of tomfoolery in the future.
I don't know if a lot of people complained about his tone, but must be a quite a few since it makes to the news. This leads me to think Why. I know such posts from director are expected to be written more "officially", but I figured most JPs that follow XIV, have seen enough of that in XI.
Just a cultural difference I would guess.
Personally I'm a really liberal dude so this is refreshing to see coming from a SE director/producer. The guy seems to know what he's doing thus far, but time will of course be the true judge of his accomplishments. I would much rather this dude try to talk to me like a person and not some off-the-shelf CEO that is just reading from a scripg someone else wrote for him and he's slapped his name on. People responded pretty well to this angle in XI so here's hoping it'll keep going in this direction.
I don't think anyone should be expecting giant leaps/steps for each patch. You should expect just "steps" forward in the right direction. With two patches a month progress is going to be incremental, not huge leaps. Which is good because it allows more flexibility. Turn around time is faster, which means response time to feedback will be faster on for each patch. In addition, it is safer for them this way as it puts less risk on botching something.
And Yoshi-P should just produce a separate letter for the JP, or have his translator keep his EN version informal and personable.
I would love to see a behind the scenes video, or even pictures. We speculate how much or how little they're working (the 14 staff I mean). Personally, I imagine Yoshi sending memos to every cubicle saying "Sorry folks, we're pulling an all nighter". I'd like to see what it's like at the FFXIV floor of SE right now.
So are we assuming that the changes to the claiming/engaging portion of the table means we'll be getting sp/xp from yellow mobs? I'm not asking them to, all of a sudden, give astral burn a go (not that it would be a terrible thing, lol).
