Easiest to just not have any faith or expectations for the ones not helmed directly by Marvel, and after Nolan, same with Batman.

CBMHiroyuki Sanada ("Lost," Rush Hour 3, The Last Samurai) is set to play Shingen; veteran actor Hal Yamanouchi (The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Push, Sinbad of the Seven Seas) plays Yashida; and new discoveries Tao Okamoto and Rila Fukushima will star as Mariko and Yukio, respectively.
THRAccording to Variety, Fox and James Mangold have found the villain for their upcoming Wolverine movie in the form of Will Yun Lee. The site report that - "details of the Harada character are being kept under wraps and production is scheduled to begin next month in Australia." - but of course we all know that "Harada" has to be Kenuichio Harada, better known as The Silver Samurai.
Will Yun Lee, recently seen in TV’s Hawaii Five-O, and Brian Tee, seen recently in shows such as Grimm and Burn Notice, are joining Hugh Jackman in the Japan-set movie based on the Marvel Comics hero.
...
Tee is playing Noburo Mori, a corrupt minister of justice who is about to marry the daughter of a Yakuza crime lord (the daughter is Wolverine’s love interest).
Yun Lee will play Harada, more commonly known as The Silver Samurai. He possesses an electrified suit of Samurai armor and is the illegitimate son of the crime lord.

http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/7/13...wolverine.htmlJessica Biel has landed her second Marvel movie role, as she's been cast as the character Viper in the James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma, Girl Interrupted) directed The Wolverine. The first Marvel movie she starred in was Blade II.
The Viper character, formerly known as Madame Hydra, has a long arc in the X-Men mythology. She is a professional terrorist and has her own organization. She has come into conflict with many superheroes and supervillains over the years. Her nihilism and tendency to spread death around her has made it hard for other villains to associate with her.
As for her relationship with Wolverine, in the comics she "blackmailed him into marrying her as a means to secure her criminal empire in Madripoor. Although this was a marriage of convenience, she did request to consummate the arrangement. Some time later, her body was briefly inhabited by the spirit of Ogun, and Wolverine mortally wounded her as a means of driving the spirit from her dying body. In return for seeking medical attention to save her life, Wolverine demanded a divorce. It is later implied that she actually had feelings for Wolverine."
The feature is based on the classic Chris Claremont and Frank Miller 1982 story arc in the Wolverine comics. The story will follow Logan, who starts "a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman whose hand in marriage is, unfortunately, promised to another man. Since Logan won't take "no" for an answer, it puts him into battle with her father and her samurai-sword-wielding brothers and Silver Samurai."

too many villains!
Why are people saying Silver Samurai is a villain?
Hes not.
I also don't really see Jessica Biel as a credible villain. Not sure I buy her as Viper.
How's Catherine Zeta-Jones looking these days? I could maybe see her as Viper.

This movie feels like a mess.A few days ago we reported Jessica Biel had been offered the role of Viper in director James Mangold’s (Walk the Line) The Wolverine. However, sources have informed us that talks have broken down between Biel and 20th Century Fox and the studio is now talking to other actresses. With production on The Wolverine set to begin next month in Australia and on location in Japan, you can expect a lot more casting news in the coming weeks. Hit the jump for what we know so far about the film.

http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/7/19...-of-viper.htmlRussian Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy actress Svetlana Khodchenkova is the studio's number two choice. As much as I was on board with Biel taking on the role, Khodchenkova is a much better fit for the part. She falls in line with the origins of the Viper character from the comic books as she comes from an Eastern European country.

Oh god that looks so dumb.
https://geektyrant.com/news/2012/8/1...one-movie.htmlEven though one of the post-credits scenes in X-Men Origins: Wolverine included Wolverine in Japan, it doesn't mean the new James Mangold-directed film The Wolverine is going to be a sequel. In fact there's a reason why it's not called Wolverine 2, they wanted this Wolverine movie to be a standalone film, which is definitely the way to go. Especially after how bad the first Wolverine movie turned out.
Hugh Jackman recently did an interview with Total Film magazine (via Coventry Telegraph) in which he discusses where The Wolverine fits in with the rest of the X-Men movies.
We've deliberately not called it Wolverine 2 because we want it to be placed and feel like a standalone picture. With an all-new cast and setting it in Japan, it's going to give us a whole new visual aesthetic. The approach to character means we won't be overloaded with mutants and teams and the like, so it'll be more character-based. I think in many ways it will feel like a completely different X-Men film.

Updated synopsis;
http://www.facebook.com/TheWolverine/infoBased on the celebrated comic book arc, THE WOLVERINE finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.
Will Yun Lee as Silver Samurai seems like a good casting. Glad the talks for Biel have broken down. Lol.
