I wouldn't admit that I live in Arkansas in public.

Ok, I was born and raised in Chicago and loved the snow as a kid. Loved making snow forts, having snowball fights, hated shoveling snow (except the roof, cause I could jump off into the snow piles when done), but over all enjoyed winters.
Well, I've lived in Texas for too long now, and it's definitely made me soft when it comes to cold weather. Most winters we rarely get down to 32°, but over a week of it getting down in the teens to low 20s has been crazy. I love my apartment, it's a hundred year old house converted to apartments, with 12 foot ceilings, all wood floors, big french doors, etc, but it was not built to hold in heat lol. I don't even own any thick wool blankets or down comforters like we use to have up north, so I've just ended up sleeping in my mummy bag that I have for cold weather camping.
And down here, none of the pipes are insulated or buried deep enough, so I've kept my sinks dripping non stop. Heard far too many stories of houses and businesses with ruptured pipes this week. The streets are terrible now too, since they don't have salt for the roads they just spread tons of sand everywhere. The drivers are bad enough down here, and ice and sand just makes it worse. Luckily I have front wheel drive and learned to drive up north, but the other drivers are a bigger threat than any amount of ice could ever be.
The only good thing for me I'd say is that since I quit smoking a couple months ago and started using an E-cig I don't have to stand outside in the cold to smoke at least.
Fucking shit is back, at least where I am....since 3 am my porch already has up to my knee almost in snow...and its whiteout conditions. I was already for this shit to be gone, forecasters calling for up to 7-10 more inches of thundersnow today...LOVELY...
we actually had thundersleet south of us the other day.
