    Paypal questions

Ok I never used paypal (lol) so mini questions (all this because someone wanna buy a PC I'm selling)

    1) If I have an account but my bank account is not linked to it can i still get the money the people send me?

    2) How goes to process to send the money I receive from paypal directly to my Real bank account?

    3) How can I know the money the guy sent me is not wrong (Like fake or him recalling the money)

    Thx for answering my noobishness

I wish I could tell you how it works when not linked but I cant.

But fyi most funds are held for a few weeks for a new user. I use paypal a ton so I have my bank account linked, I just click a simple button and its in my account 2 days later(or I can just use the money asap via paypal account) but that took a few weeks of sales to get. once your do a few sales money is posted right away.

Hope someone can tell you about this more though

I can answer 3 somewhat. Once they pay its your money(ask them to send as a gift, gifts can not be returned) a hold may be put on your account if the person wants to be an ass. But its rare that anything will come of it. There was one hold when I sold a large item. paypal contacted me I posted my invoice and it was lifted. Maybe this has something to do with my good standing account? still its rare a bad story comes from paypal. Its about as safe as a internet sale can go.

Yeah, anyone who doesn't just pay by default method = scam. Fuck any special instructions and report them. You specified payment info and they didn't follow it, so fuck 'em.

Paypal is a piece of shit company though, so I'll answer for future reference:

    1) Yes, but checks take several weeks to arrive, and there's a good chance that Paypal will put any first-transaction under review and fuck you out of your money. They find any withdrawal suspicious if you don't have like 100+ rep or 10 years membership "suspicious" and will fuck you over.

    2) For unlinked accounts, check -> cash check. For linked accounts bank transfer -> block paypal from reversing transaction with your bank -> file fraud report if they still try to reverse anyway.

    3) You can't, and if he does try to reverse, Paypal will side with him 100% of the time.

Paypal is absolute 100% shit to sellers. Sell once and they treat you like a criminal (because no one legit would ever have a first transaction, ever, durrrrrr), sell a lot and you'll eventually get fucked over with reversals so often that you just end up adding it as a % to the cost of business. The good news is that Paypal files so many false reports that the credit agencies no longer take them seriously, and their "collections" are total bullshit. If they fuck you over, just close the account, tell your bank to block them (the won't ask questions because it happens so often and Paypal has 0 credibility, never files suit because they know they'll lose and they make enough profit fucking over oblivious people) and ignore it. It'll never show up on your credit.

Typically people will claim non-delivery and have the funds yanked from you (you'll go negative and can't use the account anymore till you pay it if you've already taken the money out). That way you are out the item+shipping+money. Gift would work best if you just had to use Paypal, but I'd just avoid it like the plague on anything halfway sketchy. Western Union or nothing man. You can send money through WU online just the same as paypal or they can drive like 10 mins to the nearest grocery store/gas station and send it there. Not exactly hard to do and anyone who won't do that is probably trying to scam you.

Also, NEVER sell something virtual while letting people pay with paypal (unless its so minor you wouldn't care if you get burned the money+item). You have zero way to prove delivery and 9/10 times paypal will side with the buyer on a non-delivery claim.

    Oh, and http://www.paypalsucks.com/

Edit: Much truth from Kerberoz. Paypal fails.

I've been using paypal since like 2004 on my personal account with something like 80 transactions, and they do that shit to me. It's not just new users, it's basically anyone that isn't doing a shit-ton of business through paypal.

As for money being recalled, if paypal sides with the other party after a dispute, or if they recall the payment via their bank/credit card, it will happen. If the money was still in the paypal account you're basically fucked. If you had already transferred the money, they will just leave your paypal account in the red and eventually submit your shit to a debt collector if you don't pay them. This happened to me twice with buyers scamming on ebay, but I was able to get the negative balance and account holds dropped each time by filing a police report/affidavit and sending them copies, and a letter asking them for proof of debt. The only thing you can really do is try to only sell to reputable people, and ship shit with tracking/signature confirmation, so the other party can't just say "Didn't get your package lol", which doesn't stop them from trying to pull "He sent me a box of rocks lolol." but it's the best you can do, but at least paypal will generally side with you in that case (even if you did actually send them a box of rocks.) If they file a chargeback with their bank/CC, paypal can't really fight against it, so they'll try to get you to eat the charge instead of them no matter what.

TLDR: Paypal sucks, don't use it if you don't have to, especially with an untrusted party with no paper trail of them receiving anything. It looks 99% like a scam regardless. Ask him to pay you with a money order (you can do it online through western union) that he can't reverse or to have his "pickup agent" pay you instead, and I doubt you'll hear from him again.

The only way you're protected from a chargeback is if you have the buyer file a chargeback and then cancel it, then you ship the item. Pretty sure that flags you for their automated hold shit, though, so yeah.

Oh, and anything under $1000 does not involve real employees, no matter what they tell you. You can write anything in the comment boxes and it does not matter.

And yeah, like stated, never ever ever ever sell virtual items via paypal. If you buy them, go ahead and scam the seller for being stupid enough to use Paypal. Buyer wins 100% as there's no proof of delivery.
