MDT caps, Shellra V with 5 merits gives how much MDT? I know back in the day of 3/3 Tier II caps, we believed it to increase from 23% to 25%, and otherwiki lists 27% for 5/5 merits. But my question is, has any test been done to rule out an increase in MDB providing the additional mitigation? So should we still be going to 27-28% MDT in gear to actually cap MDT before MDB? Thanks

MDT caps at 50%, MDB doesn't cap. They're calculated in different stages. Shellra V gives 27.3% MDT iirc (70/256). The amount of MDB is irrelevant, because you still need 58/256 more MDT to cap.

So the additional mitigation added by extra merits into Shellra V is MDT? Thanks, was just curious if the testing would have ruled out MDB as a source of reduced damage.

Loldrk using Guillotine atma setup, if it's decent I am thinking that rr/gc/apoc > rr/vv/apoc (given how easy it is to 5hit drk).

is there a reasonable way to farm time solo nin/war? i can set up for aedge but i'm not sure i can get tp fast enough. i'd love to farm some time and stay in the zone for the KI and boss kills. otherwise i'm prob stuck farming trigs and deboxing them and popping the boss one at a time.

Probably solo is fastest for you. But still I would cap lights if I were you (pearl/azure/amber if possible) If you have an extra fanatic drink and happen to see an ISL chest, you most certainly can cleave some. No doubt it is a lot harder, but if you are short on stone supplies, may I suggest perhaps teaming up with people in the zone to farm time and then do your own NMs?

Yes I know everyone is saying it's best not to cleave unless you want most of the KI, but my focus is more on keeping the stone supplies, since most people do not just do emph weapons farms with their 3 stones per day, so you might find stones a bit hard to come by if you farm 120 min or more everyday using purely stones time.

Cleaving for 3 KI in a zone with 9 is a waste anyway. Keep up time while farming? Sure. Cleave for KI? Nah.

While true, cleaving for time is still effective, and with capped amber, does get you a KI or two every once in a while. It's also nice when you kill Briareus and he drops a chest with 1/3 of his pops :D

Especially even more worthwhile when you're doing Carabosse+Briareus at the same time, which I am personally doing. (No reason not to...)

Hence my response that if they're not bothering with doing any of this, just warp and change.

hadn't really considered teaming up for some time/lights at the start. i'll have to try that and see if i can keep time going when i farm gigas.

0/3 black belt items with only 700 kindred seals. So I'll probably need to camp which is something I never enjoyed doing, nor did I spend much time doing it. Does anyone have any experience killing faf at 90? Can I 2 box him with ninja and rdm? Or would I still run out of time, etc? I'm assuming the other 2 nqs would be easy pickings at 90 for a duo. Drop rate is 10%ish w/o thf?

Seen a nin + whm duo faf a few days ago. Took them like 45 minutes...... Adamantoise was an easy duo at 75, 90 should be an afk fest. Definitely do ada as thf + whm if possible. Went 1/1 on ada egg this way for my mule. Behe can also be duo'd easily.

I wouldnt even bother without a thf tbh, drop rate is low enough to begin with that you will probably be there for 1-2 HQ pops before you see a drop from an NQ. Grab a few friends and try the HQs, they are all easy with 4+ people now.

Frogs give every light. Nothing in La Theine that doesn't give ruby that I can think off the top of my head.

As for egg from ada, I've seen 0 eggs from NQ's in probably 25-30 kills. Only ever saw egg from HQ, and had TH4 on all the NQs (pre TH update, pre 85 cap)

Well I figure with 700 seals I should be able to get one from KS fight if the drop rate is 15-20%. So if I have to get the egg from there that's fine. I'd love to just buy the others but the only reason to camp now is BB items so there is little motivation for other campers to sell.

From my experience cleaving is rarely the most efficient way to build time or even pop sets anyways. Steric factors regarding the time it takes to actually pull the mobs inhibit how effective it really is. For instance, in Abyssea - La Theine, I found I got time extensions much faster by simply having a BRD give my NIN Haste + Marches and going to town on the Farfedet (as opposed to Aeolian Edging Flies.) Capping Azure/Amber and then starting on NMs is going to be much faster for any competent group of players. I would only consider cleaving my group was large enough to exhaust any timed NMs.

Just very anecdotal, but when I was missing only 8 helms, I had 5 pops and was pretty sure I was going to get the 8 helms since we fought with a THF with all TH gear available. 4 of them only dropped 1x helm, last one dropped 2x and yeah, I was 2 helms short from completion.

When we for any reason went NIN/WAR + WHM/THF we had constant drops of 2 helms.

So, yeah, anecdotal but it was annoying as hell.

7 Bria to get my last 8 helms. 5 of those bria had a thf main on it. Infuriation ensued.
