Is PUP still lol? Have there been any important attachments added or any major changes to the job since the cap was 75?

Is monk still acceptable as a DD? And did kick attacks ever become something to use regularly?

Well, I'm few pages late on this, but I wanted to note that I've had this happen as well. Got a parry skill up on a gnole between its melee rounds. I think I've seen it a few other times, but this one was the first, so I recall it.

I came to pretty much the same conclusion. You can parry counters, and when you do it functions just like evading one. The counter doesn't fire, and your melee hit goes through normally. I think i might have a screen shot of that gnole parry skill up somewhere... If anyone wants some confirmation.

I would disagree with this. If you're new to Abyssea, you don't start with lunars, you don't have atmas, and the add-ons give up decent enough atmas for use in Abyssea for a minimal amount of time spent when you're lacking Visitant time. If you've been gone for 3 years, you probably don't have an overabundance of friends who are gonna use up time to go get you Razed Ruins, Minikin, etc. at the drop of a hat when they probably have an entire list of Abyssea stuff they want to get done themselves.

Do the add-ons anyway. It's not the gear that matters.
They're easy as shit, and it'll improve your time in Abyssea (even if only slightly).

PUP has become pretty decent in Abyssea due to Stringing Pummel's TP mod and the abilitiy to increase critical hit rate/critical damage in Abyssea.
Your puppet is most likely going to be locked on WHM though for it to be useful.

MNK has never dropped the ball ever as a DD and that hasn't changed. If Abyssea made PUPs acceptable, Abyssea turned MNKs into gods.
Hope you're willing to invest in a Black Belt.

As far as Kick Attacks go, I'm not really sure what're you're asking here... do you mean a Footwork build?
If so, no. Just wear 5/5 MNK +2 empyrean armor and the kicks will take care of themselves.

I'd have to say that I disagree. I don't think I'd bother paying money and spending time for those atmas alone. The ASA atma is nice and all but you can get by just fine without it. The atmas you get from other mission completions, NM titles, and other random crap like assault clears will be more than enough to compensate. Not to mention in the time that you're gonna spend finding a group for and doing those retarded missions (since you haven't been around for 3 years) you could have just scraped up like 500k to pay someone for minikin and/or razed ruins and been better off anyways.

Edit: That being said you can always still do them for the gear/atmas/fun/completion's sake but I wouldn't feel compelled to do so. Not having the three add-on scenarios won't hinder you in any way.

Everything I heard and read thus far is pointing to the conclusion that a footwork build is pointless and stupid. It offers no advantage over H2H and no forseeable situation where you can make better use of it over H2H.

Like the other poster said, MNK was always the top or near the top in DD the problem is too many people looked at endgame as the only thing that mattered and MNK didn't do too well on HNM with high defense/dangerous TP moves(being in melee range didn't help) so they weren't used on them giving the impression to some that they were not as good as SAM/DRK/WAR ect.

A little late on this, but, I haven't seen this mentioned. If the the WHM is /BLM, get Tunga to about 77% and store TP to 100%+. Have the WHM stun Tunga and while it's stunned, WS it so it goes below 75%. Tunga will not chainspell ever, if you do this every 25%. Makes the fight super easy.

Footwork is great for proccing blue without doing much damage/tp feed (esp w/ oa4 weapon) since you can WS+5hit easily, typically 3 rounds after ws with oa4.

    Few questions:
    - Can you resist stun with high thunder resist?
    - Can you resist death with high dark resist or only shadow ring, atma, flawless ribbon etc.?
    - Is mateor non elemental, dark or light and if that varies with mob then which is what (Behemoth's and AV mainly) and can it be resisted with high resist?
    - What's the strategy for lamps on PW fight? Diaga them from main fight and zerg one by one? How many ppl would be needed for lamps itself?

But in all practicality is it worth the work to proc blue with giving little TP and taking hours and hours to get said weapon? I would rather get capped subtle blow gear build and just pop footwork in my H2H TP gear. It's too much of a niche to be practical but I see how it could be somewhat useful.

    WHM Hexastrike legs: Orison Pantaloons+2 (7MND) or Prince's Slops (3MND 4ACC) ?

Any viable upgrades? Hydra brais are unobtainable (for now), and ASA legs are being used.

Is Loki's still the WS body of choice for Blade: Jin? I was messing around with a spreadsheet that I made and it was saying Emp+2 provides over twice the marginal increase on Jin that Loki's does, even in abyssea with GH/RR atmas for high crit rate. Almost three times the benefit if you're pdif uncapped in abyssea, and over four times outside of abyssea.

Did I mess up my sheet somehow, or is this correct? I could've sworn Loki's was still the standard.

Go with the accuracy unless you are certain that you are capped. Volunteer's Brais has +6 Acc but your best bet is obviously to make Hydra Brais obtainable if you're serious about it.

Loki's is only for Hi, as far as NIN goes.

Can anyone suggest a good mix of gear for monk to tank with assuming they are MT in abyssea with support.

All gear options possible aside from dring/relic/mythic though (emp yes). I got an idea but I want someone else input to see what I might have missed. This is specifically to TP/idle in and not min/max pdt/mdt gear.

Thinking full tantra+2/emp wep/ tantra tath/seatorque/bb/atheling/raja/epona, but would some evasion gear be better?
