Just got NIN to 90, working on af3 and stuff, but looking for a good Jin set. What kinda pieces should I be looking at? With just my ragtag gear I've got atm this is what I'm working with. EDIT: Katanas are Hochomasamune/Kamome.

I want to get my Sorcerer's Ring to work in Abyssea. I've seen people state that the HP buff does not count towards the HP% and other people state that you have to click it off when you nuke. Does anyone know which is right?

Sorc ring ignores hp buff, so you need to have the same hp as you would have outside. The reason people say otherwise is because not all rings work the same, and some of them work by just clicking off the hp bonus, so they assume sorc will also work like that.

So I keep hearing lots of stuff for Magic WS on Rani:

"Earthcrusher sucks"
"Jinpu underwhelming"
"Cata sucks"

So what is actually a good Magical WS to use? Light based ones like Trueflight? Anything else viable?

don't get the HP buff, and live on the edge for sorc. ring ^^ Quite fun to be a suicide bomber.

Wildfire works great as mentioned. Smite and Ukko's have done pretty well for us - they're not going to 2shot Rani or anything, but they'll get the job done for sure. I've heard Sanguine Blade works well despite being a dark-based WS but don't have anything to substantiate that claim.

Not sure how much data has been collected on the subject - and this is a small sample size - but I think TH might heavily affect whether or not you get a second empyrean weapon to drop.

I've killed 8 Chloris so far towards Verethragna. The first four were done without TH of any kind, and the next four were done with a 90 THF.

Kills 1-4 yielded 5 Two-Leaf Chloris Buds (3 single drops, 1 double drop)...
Kills 5-8 yielded 8 Two-Leaf Chloris Buds (all 4 kills had double drop).

You can still get the HP buff, just put on all of your normal -HP proc gear and click it off, and you will have your normal outside abyssea proc HP.

wait TH has an effect on drop rates? o and chloris buds aren't weapons bed

So my comp crashed and I lost my hardrive and everything. I now have a new comp I just loaded windows7 in, and i DL ffxi from steam. I cant't seem tp get windower to work with it though now. Just shows up as not installed or corrupt registry. Does anyone know how to play ffxi through windower with steam?

- Also I updated POL, and now it wont even open up through steam. I am so lost.

Has been known for a while but additional confirmation is always nice. TH is the only thing that affects Empyrean Mat drops. Personally, I'm of the opinion that it's the only thing that affects Shinryu's rare drops too, but I only have about 20 samples to work with.

Jinpu just seems... random. I've seen everything from 2.5 to 14k spikes, and there's simply no explanation for it. Usually it's on the low side though.

Quick BLU Question.

Is there some trick to learning Self-Destruct? I'm running somewhere along the lines of 0/38 Right now. Its just me and a SMN friend killing bombs for the time, We're in Ifrit's Cauldron.

Does it have to be used on a Member of the Party? Like say, Me or my Friend, not the Avatar?

Or am i just unlucky and gotta stick with it

While I don't think avatar kills would prevent learning, seems reasonable to just remove them from the equation altogether

Go kill bombs in the basement of gusgen instead, and make sure you or your friend (and not avatar) is the target of the ws.

You just got unlucky, I went 1/50 on it myself.

Does Atma of the Ducal Guard:
A - Stack with pdt/mdt gear? (assume yes)
B - Bypass the 50% damage taken cap? (assume no)

As in, if I have -50% PDT, Ducal Guard won't give me -75% or whatever?
