just tried my first Briareus and he ate me around 70%. had blind + both subtle blow spells (+49 in traits/gear) on him but MC just didn't seem able to keep up. nin/thf ate 1111 999 and then a random slam (died after to a melee hit). in the first 30%. i did turn around after the 1111 to get my hp back up to 1.7k is that normal from him or do i really need to turn after every tp move and wait for hp to go up significantly?

When he does Mercurial for 1111 start kiting immediately because he's going to Meikyo -> Colossal Slam x3. Just kite the 3 slams and resume fighting. He's a joke.

I did it a few days ago, we had 1 PLD to kite it, 2 rdms, 8 BLMs and a WHM. Could have done it with less, but if it goes into shell and you can't get it out might have trouble. Time Nuke Freeze 2, if it goes in shell, -agas till it's out, then time nuke again. PLD kites while BLMs rest, if they pull hate, use Enmity Douse.

Only 2 eggs dropped in 7 runs >.> Need to go back again next week, my husband still needs it...

Can you learn Bad Breath from Ameretat?

I know its a Malboro... But i know you also can't learn Self-Destruct from Clusters even though its the same-name.. etc.

The cluster version is probably considered a different TP move since it works differently, instead of killing the mob it'll just "lose" one of the 3. It would have to be a different TP move for it to work properly I guess and no one at SE bothered to amend it so it would be learnable by BLUs.

Should be no issue learning Bad Breath from ameretats but as someone who used to kill that NM in bhaf a lot I can tell you they damn near never use it. I never saw a regular ameretat use it once, even the NM only used it maybe 2-3 times out of dozens of kills (slow kills too, so it had the chance to get quite a few TP moves off).

Idk if old-world Malboros use it any more often (afaik all regular morbols tend to use it significantly less than other TP moves) but I figured it worth mentioning that the ToAU ones might not be the best ones to go to from what I've seen.

The ones in Riverne B might be a good alternative, lots of them and they're probably high enough to live a decent length of time being poked with crafting weapons/H2H/whatever.

I'm having trouble where my dats are randomly being swapped on me. I did a file check in POL viewer and nothing turned up. I am using windower, and various programs found on that site, but haven't done any dat swaps. What happens is that from time to time characters around me but never my own will show up as a different race with often times different gear. Even with two accounts at once I'll only see other characters but never the character I'm running swap out. I've had mainly the same weapons, gear, and character models show up. Brown and tan cloak, white and blue cloak, marauders knife, balmung, alkalurops, on hume male blond hair, taru male brown hair. Most often it shows up as normal gear, but it will randomly switch it to the incorrect .dat. This happens with blinkmenot on and off. Any tips would be great. I first noticed this within an hour after recent update.

4manned fairly easily with RDM RDM BLM BLM, could probably cut it down a bit. It doesn't seem to go into shell until nuked, so just bind/grav while getting mp up before time nuking. Spam nukes while in shell to force out.

Honestly your isues sound exactly like the issues people were having with blinkmenot when it was broken after update. Update your blinkmenot. Problems can persist even after you unload it if it was previously loaded in that instance.

Leveling WHM for subjob, but haven't played since SCH was introduced. Is WHM/SCH ever more useful/better than WHM/BLM for leveling pre-50?

WHM/SCH is good from level 20 up. Basically from when you get Light Arts as it saves you MP and casting time, raises skills etc.

My girlfriend and I are thinking of picking the game up to play casually since the exp increase. Are there any servers out that there is a decent concentration of NA players?

Another question, I haven't played since ToAU was wrapping up how is the endgame now with these new Abyssea expansion packs? Is crafting still a very time consuming thing or did they dumb it down like the exp/skill patch this month? Thanks in advance!

Can't comment on the NA servers as I'm EU but I don't know if there are any which are particularly JP heavy.

Crafting in terms of getting skillups, is the same. There is the occasional boost from a new signet buff called Artisan's Advantage. There are also new furnishings related to crafting. Materials on the whole have plummetted in price but so has the demand for much armor. Saying that, quite a few 100 crafters on my server have quit. There's now synergy which you may find useful to level in conjunction with another craft. Cooks, Fishers, Alchemists & tool-makers are having a field day right now but others are finding it tough to make decent money out of it. You're more likely to make steady gil over time than one-off huge profit pieces.

Endgame has changed completely. Abyssea has taken over. The level cap increases have radically changed the capability of lowman and smaller groups to do things. Sky is dead, Sea is almost dead. People only limbus if they need something specific. Dynamis is even-more lowmannable but the interest in it is low. Einherjar is practically dead. Salvage died for a while because the new Empyrean AF killed it. However there is renewed interest for some as they promise us a way to upgrade previously obtained gear. This may revitalise other events also.

Abyssea is basically a shopping mall for the best armour in the game and extraordinary ways to xp (in alliances, up to 500-600xp per mob). It's also where you get to play in God Mode with uber buffs. Empyrean armour is questable but you can also kill NMs for it.

If you're going to come back, buy Abyssea.

Had trouble using windower on a steam purchase before. is there some trick I am missing?

at first i did too. if i can remember correctly i was trying to update an old windower folder on my last system, but downloading a completely new copy ended up working fine. also i think i had to install the x64 POL from the SE website (i'm on Win7 x64), and i'll include my launcher.ini text below (for sound & alt tabbing to work i have to use the windower_gui.exe and MAKE SURE to check off the x64 box before hitting launch):

Cap amber for KI/augments, ~15 for feet seems to be the concensus
