So, I left the game back when Abyssea 1 came out because I was disenchanted by the fact that they leave you thinking it's a highly compressed event that you can get in short bursts, but still turned out to be 3 hour marathons that required lots of people. I keep toying with the idea of coming back, but can't discern whether or not this fact has improved any. Input?

Also, is there anything interesting about the game anymore or is it just an exercise in power creep with bigger and bigger numbers flying around while you beat down the lootsack of the day? Seems like even the "final boss" of abyssea can be cheesed thanks to powerful atmas and that primeval brew, plus the atma you get from him is just ridiculous.

You seem to be under the incredibly mistaken conclusion that any "final boss" of an add-on or expansion has been the least bit challenging. Eald'narche was soloable at 75, Promathia was duoable(maybe even soloable, IDK), Alexander was trioable, and, while I've never fought Lilith, she looks like just as much of a joke. Technically speaking, Shinryu is a hell of a lot more difficult than any other if you're not using a brew.

It's the fact that the brew exists as an option that can be relied on repeatedly that does it for me, plus the rewards for beating him being as obscene as they are. "Hard" bosses may have been doable with some specific requirements in the past, but this offers a win button that anybody can use, which heavily devalues it in my mind.

Moreover, I hardly consider mission story bosses that otherwise don't provide more than a one-time reward to be particularly 'hard'. This strikes me more like soloing the SL campaign op or a BC99. Show me how people can routinely solo Apoc Nigh or DM on most any class, then we'll talk.

I'm not criticizing any of this, mind you. People still enjoy it for what it is, and that's fine. I'm asking for perspective based on what I saw when I left if it's interesting. Or use the word entertaining there, if it helps; we are talking about a game and I'm trying to measure its current worth as a sustained hobby. It just seems like it's a lot of power creep nonsense and "kid in a candy store" effect and doesn't offer any real incentive to strive for achievement. Sure it's fun at first, but once the creep becomes normal it makes everything else suck in comparison, which is bad.

If everyone is special then nobody is, etc etc.

Does anybody have a list of D cap values for various spells? I can't seem to find one anywhere. Not looking for V or M values, but D cap values.

I don't think you'll find a good list anywhere, I think the Tier II elemental spells cap over 250+ dINT, so without brew you wouldn't be able to figure it out.

Ok its been weeks now of same shit and I cannot figure it out at all. I am getting boots like mad whenever I join a party in abyssea. As long as I perform no actions I am fine, but as soon as I do while in a party I get booted. I am not using any 3rd party software or anything so I assume it must be my graphics card or something. However I am not sure this is it because I am fine soloing mobs in abyssea. I literally only get booted when I join up with my ls for farm runs, its pissing me off bc i have had to miss 2 weeks of events and i cannot find a remedy for it. does anyone know why this would be? I am using steam to run ffxi, no windower or spellcast now because I thought that may have been the issue. please help! I literally only get booted when inside abyssea and i join a party.

Synergy: Can you skillup (from feeds) feeding an element that isn't part of the recipe?

Ex: Boneworkers Stall is 99Dark, I'd rather just spam earth to cap skill.

Fairly longtime lurker, first time posting…so please forgive me if this is in the wrong area.

Any suggestions on a good spot to solo/lowman cruor farm?

When solo, I normally go Pup/dnc and fight Colibri/Bats in Aby Mis (I like colibri since they don’t ruby)
I’ll enter azure 3-4 Murexes then hammer away at bird/bat. I can usually average about 1-2 TEs every ~15 minutes. In most cases I exit with just a few more minutes than what I started with.

Also…what Atmas should I use.
I generally go with RR/VV and either Cloak&Dagger or Ebon hoof for a little better survivability

(I also have Bst, Smn and Blm leveled incase those might be better options)

Do check files from pol before login, you've got corrupt files. Or reinstall ffxi.

I'm experiencing the same problem.

I only started experiencing this issue yesterday, after the maintenance. I first encountered the problem when I went to help a friend in La Theine Abyssea. I duo-box using windower, and the problem seemed to happen shortly after I would engage. Both characters would have the d/c icon above their head and slowly disconnect from the game.

I waited until today, hoping whatever the problem was, was only temporary. However today it happened again when I went to finish helping with some stuff in Abyssea La Theine. So I decided to "check files" and after that process was done, tried again. But sadly, my characters both disconnected again after engaging an NM.

I'm at a loss of what the issue may be. I thought it could be windower related, but all my friends are using the same version as well as plugins, and no one else is encountering this issue.

Any suggestions or trouble shooting ideas would be extremely appreciated.

Wiki lists ascetic's tonic as +10 MAB. Is there any testing to support this?

I went and tested tonic and gambir and got 25 MAB for tonic and 50 MAB for gambir.

Using 91 MAB, I for blizz2 I got 611 with no staff, 691 with tonic
I did some other spells with various staffs equipped to verify that it wasn't related to either lvl 51 staff damage or elemental affinity

320 base damage
320*1.91 = 611.2
320*2.16 = 691.2

Due to some previous magic crits, I removed hecate's when doing the gambir set of nukes
Using 85 MAB for blizz 2 I got 592 base and 752 w/ gambir
320*1.85 = 592
320*2.35 = 752

I'm currently fleshing out smn merits, and I'm stuck on what to do for cat2. I have blm, whm, rdm, brd so this isn't a job I'm going to be bringing to most things. Should I just open up each bp or just max 1/2? Also, I went with 5 phys. attack and 5 phys. accuracy - should I change this to 5 attack and 5 magic attack for the cat 2's?

I find the P.Att merits on Smn to be useless. I went 5 Acc, 5 Matt. As for Cat 2, you can get one of each if you want to have options but I think it's best to max out Shiva, put 4 in Garuda, and 1 in Titan as his can stun.

There were some errors, and I clicked on the "Repair Files". But still had the problem after I logged in afterwards with both characters.

Since then, i've rebooted my router and modem, and also downloaded the latest version of windower (including the update to the hook.dll file). The only thing is that I haven't been back to Abyssea La Theine, which is where all the disconnecting occured.

I'm hoping the problem somehow resolved itself with all the other things I did. But if anyone else experiences the same issue and has any other suggestions to offer, please post
