Sometimes Plow does make sense, unlike Cowherd, who never makes sense.

wont be drafting any of note this year unfortunately. heres to hoping we can get 2 with our 2 first rounders next year.

This team would be unreal with 1 elite passrusher and a pretty good one with everything else they have

Pretty excited about Mallett, that pick makes me kind of think. Our current back-up wasn't that bad to begin with.

Maybe. Do you think the Packers would have been 13-3 and in overtime of the NFC championship his 3rd year in the league? Cuz they were with him sitting.

The reality is that until recently, young starters were the exception to the rule. Like I said it was your Elways, your Aikmans, etc.

You look at the 49'ers that were great teams for 2 solid decades, they groomed Montana with a fair bit of playing but not starting early on. He got older, they picked up Steve Young... who was a horribly failed experiment as a first year starter. He sat for 4 years behind Montana, as a very solid backup, then took over and became a HoF'er. Young got older, they picked up Garcia, who'd been playing in Canada for 5 years. He gave them another 5 years of excellence.

All of that ended when the strategy finally failed with Rattay.

Yeah, so much has changed, but I'm a firm believer in 'toss them to the wolves and let them learn on their own' if they aren't on a completely horrendous team, like the Lions, or the Browns.. or one of the other bottom feeder teams out there.

It's also important that you get thrown on a team with a stable coaching staff and a stable system. Get guys like Jason Campbell, who I truly believe is a serviceable QB and give him the same staff yearly, I guarantee he'd be way better than he is now. Guy just couldn't catch a break and be with the same system longer than a year. It's all very situational in that regard. Sometimes you get lucky, like Sam Bradford, and get to play in a lousy division to get your bearings. Or sometimes you get unlucky.. and you're David Carr, behind one of the worst lines ever, getting sacked 70+ times.

QB is just a crapshoot in the draft D:

But, you know, Rhinox is right.

Clearly the best strategy is to wait until your current qb is gone, and then worry about the future of the franchise.

It's worked out so well for so long for the Browns, Bills, Dolphins, Chiefs, Seahawks, Raiders, Panthers, etc.

The Bengals' reluctance to draft a serviceable potential future qb looks like it's really going to pay off, too.

Wait so, since I mentioned Rodgers every other person I mention has to have sat for the exact same amount of time?

And the argument that your entire statement was retarded as fuck in a multitude of ways is pretty all-encompassing.

The argument was in response to rainman wanting to sit mallet 5 years to "develop" that was the criteria

If that's the criteria, then your claim is utterly and completely destroyed by Rodgers' existence. He's obviously not a terrible quarterback, and he's obviously not under terrible coaches.

It's that simple, your statement is flat out wrong on those grounds alone.

If you really want to be that specific, you're just making yourself more specifically wrong.

You want me to find exceptions to the "rule" that exactly 4 or 5 years is not the right number?

What the fuck are you on?

Oh, and they can't have played before, and they can't have sat out for other reasons, and they have to be qb's you like, and between 6'4-6'4 and 3/4 with blue eyes and black hair and
