Majority of the players in the NFL are from impoverished backgrounds. Their "choice" isn't much of one when it's their only way out.

And the average life expectancy of an NFL player is 52. That of a normal person? 77.9.

That's damn near 30 years shaved off of your life, and that's not even taking into account the head/body ailments that most players deal with after retirement. Even in their late 30's and 40's, they have the bodies of a 60 year old. That's a pretty large price to pay to play a kids game.
