    Mouse recommendations

My Trackball Explorer passed away today and I do not feel like paying $~200 for a new one and do not like any of the other trackball designs available.

Does anyone have any recommendations for traditional mice? Let's set an upper price point of around $150 but I'd go higher if it's worth it. Main selling points are ergonomics and buttons that I can bind to back and forward.

people will probably say the brand is overrated but a few weeks back i got a razer imperator and i completely love the thing. i did get it cheap though with some gift cards. can change dpi on the fly, move the side buttons, and although i have barely used the software it supports macros, etc. i just think it's great.

I've used G5/G7/G500 as well as razer deathadder and mamba. I can honestly say my G500 shits on everything I've used until now. The free scroll wheel is pretty nice, and it's much easier to click the middlemouse than other logitechs. If you like the low profile fingertip style flat mouse that are most razers, then yeah there you go. But I put my hand on my mouse, my palm touches it, so the G500 is the winner for me.

Also, for it's price, I wish the mamba had more features.

I love the 3 programmable thumb buttons on my G500. This is the first mouse I really went into tossing keybinds/macros onto, it just begs for it and makes it so easy and comfortable.

I recently purchased a G700 and love it so far. 13 buttons and they're placed very comfortably, easy to tell apart, etc. Wired or wireless (data over USB, not just "charging through cable but still using wireless signal" like most other hybrids). Comfortable, good weight (a bit on the heavy side), hyper-scroll, easy to use macro software. You can set up custom DPI levels to toggle through, so you're not stuck with just the preset levels like most mice.

Imo, Razer = too light, too angular, marketed at Ritalin kids.

I have a G5 - would second/third/whatever recommendations for various Logitech devices. Only Razer product I've owned was a Lycosa keyboard, and that was meh (and stopped working to boot).

    Good choice.

I had a 2nd gen G5 which I loved, and nabbed a G500 on a 50% off Cyber Monday deal on Newegg. Significant improvement all around. Ergonomics are subtly improved, more DPI adjustability, free scrolling is hella nice (lots of reviews QQ about it, but I love it).

Only thing that's a downgrade from the G5 is the amount of weight adjustability, but that's not really a downgrade, what the G500 has is plenty.

G700 or G500. Can't go wrong with either. I have the G700 and love it.

When you go from wired to wireless or reverse with the G700 does your computer do that stupid detecting devices crap?

I had the mamba for a week and the worst part of it was going from wired to wireless, there was something about it that annoyed the shit out of me.

Absolutely love my G500, but mmmm 700 is a higher number.

Nope, totally seamless. I rarely use the wireless feature because cords don't bother me; ended up getting the 700 over the 500 for moar buttons.

I just picked up a G700 myself after my old G7 charging station died on me. Loving it so far. The only problem is it isn't compatible with Logitech's unifying receiver technology so you still need separate receivers for your mouse and keyboard.

What Kerbz said. Never had that issue with this mouse and yes I could see how it would get annoying see as I plug/unplug it a lot.
