    Need some help with......laundry.

So I have a shirt that was sweated in profusely, then accidentally left to sit in a dark room for a few days which now has a hell of a perma-mildew smell. I've washed it with like 5 different detergents, oxy-clean type stuff, and color-safe bleach(it's black so normal clorox is out of the question). Washed it cold water, hot water, both on different cycles, no dice still.

Normally I'd just toss a piece of clothing this happened to, but this particular shirt is expensive, was a gift from someone I live with that they'd be mad if I just threw out, and something I get a ton of use out of. Anyone know wtf I can wash this thing with to get the smell out?

And it doesn't leave a vinegar smell instead? I'll have to find some normal stuff, we only have like ridiculous foreign gourmet vinegars here lol

Oddly enough I've used vinegar before and it never left a smell if used right.

You can pretty much use vinegar for anything x_x

Yeah just use plain old white vinegar- only thing you'd have to look out for is using too much- that's what leads to it smelling awful.

Mildew smells good, why would you want to get rid of that smell?

Use vinegar, white only, and make sure to dilute it slightly.

And no. It won't leave a vinegar smell behind. If it does, you can most definitely wash that out with detergent.

Yeah, we used White vinegar on my son's infant clothes ( only 9 months ) and has a weak stomach, so throw up is a norm in our house... use that plus normal wash method and the throw up smell is gone ( and the stain as well ).. to me Bile > Mildew >.> so it should do the trick !

Vinegar is incredible for p. much anything you could think to use it for. I thought my grandmother was batshit crazy when she swore up and down that apple cider vinegar + liquid soap = best shampoo ever, then I tried it and goddamn, it's incredible. She was hardcore (and aforementioned probably batshit) and used dish detergent, I'd use liquid castille soap instead.

Well he obviously isn't going to be able to get a dead guy to wash his shirt.
