Exclusive: Details on Catwoman in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

When you run a website like Batman-News.com, you get sent tips and “scoops” almost every day. I do my best to filter out the BS, and just deliver news from reliable sources here. Back in June I received a tip from a source claiming to know details about Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. One of the things mentioned was “she steals the Batpod” and at the time, I thought that sounded too cool to be true. Well, now Warner Bros. has officially released a picture of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman on top of the Batpod, which means there’s probably some truth in that report I received. Here it is in full… if you’re avoiding details about Catwoman’s backstory, you may not want to continue.

Catwoman is apparently one of the most well written characters we’ve seen in these movies so far and she could potentially steal the show the way Heath Ledger did last time. She does some cool stuff in the movie like jumping out of windows and stealing the Batpod. Her back story is that she has a history of abuse and works as a stripper and is also a pickpocket.

And if you weren’t blown away by Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman costume, don’t worry. A completely separate source informed me that Catwoman will be wearing a cowl at some point in The Dark Knight Rises. I’m not as confident in this source yet, so I’m passing this info along for the sake of discussion. As always this should be taken as rumor until it’s proven to be official, but I have no reason to doubt the accuracy in the first report regarding Selina Kyle’s backstory. Yeah the plot sounds really interesting but still kind of wary of her.

Also, I hope it doesn't turn into her being constantly compared to Ledger. It'll pretty much ruin it.

Think you're still missing the point. No one ever called you stupid or a troll for being skeptical of her in the roll, it was the fact that you posted her being cast as Catwomen like it was ground-breaking news, even know it has be known for MONTHS.

And before you jump all over me, I'm just filling you in on why all the posts were made, I'm not saying anything one way or another.

Just yesterday we learned that the production of The Dark Knight Rises is going to be filming at Pittsburgh's Heinz Field this weekend for a major action sequence that would be set during the middle of a Gotham City Rogues football game. The release that was sent out said that they were looking for extras to fill the stands, but didn't say anything about the players on the field. For that it seems that Warner Bros. has found an fairly elegant solution.

Pittsburgh's Post Gazette reports that playing football in The Dark Knight Rises will be none other than members of the Pittsburgh Steelers professional football team. While it doesn't look like the entire team will be participating, the paper says that quarterback Roethlisberger and "about a dozen of his veteran teammates" will be taking the field to play in the fictional game. Thomas Tull, one of the film's executive producers, has been a part owner of the Steelers for two years and, according to the story, Roethlisberger and him have become quite chummy (that'll happen when you win two championships in the span of four years).

Said the quarterback of the experience, "I heard it's going to be a neat thing at the stadium. I don't think it will be a big part, it's not like we're chasing Batman down or anyting. It's something neat that in 10 years or 20 years we can tell our kids we were in a movie. Thomas does movies big and I'm sure it will be a big-time movie and something fun to be part of."

Here's a fun fact: Rooney Mara got her name because her great grandfathers, Art Rooney, Sr. and Tim Mara, founded the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants, respectively. Perhaps they could find a way to give her a cameo of some sort.

Even with the fake, seeing what we have had me thinking of Black Widow from Iron Man 2, which I guess before that goes to Lara Croft. While I never really dug MP's suit from back in the day, nor TAS' gray/black deal, at least... they tried to look like a cat.

Thought the exact thing; it's too "simplistic" or something. I hope they add some sort of cat-like appearance to it eventually. I still trust Nolan...
