Well it happened after my last plane ride, from NJ -> FL (yesterday). Maybe it was because we were on spirit and everyone was happy to be alive. Me and the black guy next to me looked at eachother shook our heads and laughed.

I understand clapping after the movie is over or giving it a standing ovation if it's good... but clapping during the movie is annoying.

I think it might be more of a "I thought that was fucking awesome, and I want everybody in the room to know this" thing. Still retarded, but yeah. Clapping in general has always been weird to me, though. I usually just do it if everybody else does at an event or whatever. Even then, though, not much energy is going into it.

Yeah, uh when I went to the Avengers marathon, those fucking people would clap at every little thing. Even in the older movies. Capt America jumps on grenade...CLAPCLAPCLAP. It was so fucking annoying. Got even worse when Avengers started. I'm afraid the Batman marathon people are gonna do the same thing..

I've noticed with marathons, or midnight viewings, the crowd is a lot more likely to be like that. Not sure if it's 'cause they feel "closer" to these people since they've been with them for a lot longer than you normally would for a movie, or what.

People clapped at the end of inception and I hated it <_< whenever they clap, even if at the end, it takes me out of the high of the movie and makes me think about how stupid/naive/simple/etc they are that they feel compelled to clap. Or something like that. I know it isn't the most rational of things (clapping =/= ur dumb) but they're fucking stupid. I only clap out of respect for a presenter and the movie doesn't give a shit about my respect.

And for the record, I believe people only began clapping at the end of movies when it was a premier with the stars in the audience so you'd clap for them and not the 'movie' as it's inanimate.

Oh, and I remember people clapping during captain america too. I think that's the only movie I have ever had people clap during

Applause isn't just to show a performer appreciation. It's a symbol of solidarity among the audience. If you all enjoy something so much you feel compelled to clap, that's a good thing. It's a hell of a lot better than people on their cell phones the instant the credits start to roll, but even then, who gives a shit.

And obviously, if people do it during the film, fuck those mouthbreathers.

Only seen a crowd clap three times. At the end of Inception, which I happily joined in and started bro-fisting strangers. Then during this movies Dark Knight Rises trailer the crowed went nuts when it started. And at the end of Avengers.

That said, I have no clue why it would bother anybody what so ever as long as its not mid movie.
