I forget where I saw it, but I saw someone mention Michael Emerson as the Riddler and always thought that would have been a fantastic choice.

    Spoiler: show
Despite some plot holes, I loved the movie. I loved the ending. Having Batman the icon die, but letting Bruce Wayne escape to be happy was what I wanted. But what I was blown away by was the unbelievable choreography of both of the Batman vs Bane fights. Every move was on point and brutal-looking. It took all I had not to yelp with happiness when they were just beating the shit out of each other in the sewer. Batman had to try every tactic he had available to him to gain the upper hand and still failed. Also, the thing that really struck me about the sewer fight was there was no music. I had always thought an epic fight scene without music or background noise would be awkward as hell. But it sent a chill down my spine listening to the natural sound that was present. I thought it was highly effective -- although I'm interested in hearing what others have to say about this, since nobody seems to have noticed.

And then the second fight on the steps of city hall or whatever was equally as intense. It just felt so real and so natural. The first time I heard the "tink" of Bane's mask getting punched, I was like "oh fuck yeah." After one or two were knocked out, Bane seemed to go berserk. A good portion of the male audience in the theater chuckled in awe of when Bane unloaded like 5 punches in 2 seconds when Batman was against that concrete pillar. When Bats kicked Bane into that largely vacant building, I was waiting for an epic final battle. Maybe a maskless Batman vs a near-medicine-less Bane. That would have been so hot. One of the most badass things I've heard recently in films is when Batman repeats the "Then you have my permission to die" line. But then Talia had to come and fuckin ruin everything.

Bane's death sucked. I loved him as a villain. Then he just gets blasted and never seen again. Ultra gaaaaaaaay. Talia's character sucked and so did her death. Would have been better if they just left her out and kept Bane as the primary baddie...not some Deus Ex Machina in Talia.

Talia, in conjunction with Bane's disappointing death, was my primary gripe. I've seen it twice already and it kept my attention completely both times. I'll probably see it a third time in IMAX because fuck you that's why.

Fight choreography was great in the bat-bane fights but what the FUCK @ batman saving JGL from 6 henchmen. They literally took turns trying to smash their guns over batman's head like a sledgehammer. That fight actually lasted like 10-15 seconds, too. That scene was hard to watch because it was utter bullshit lol. Can't believe I completely forgot about it, too

They should have just cut around batman vs 4+ henchmen like they did batman begins or dark knight. Or just cut to the end where everyone's lying on the ground. Sort of how that bitch police chief was killed, you saw him, then it cut to his dead body.

going to pay attention to the bane-bat fight next time for the no music. Ashamed of myself for not noticing it since that's something I'd love

I thought the fight without the music was pretty epic too. I noticed it on my second viewing. Hearing Batman yelling and giving his all and still getting brutally trashed was a sight to behold. Favorite scene from the movie and probably my favorite fight scene from the trilogy. Everytime those 2 fought I felt like that is about the only thing Joker and Batman couldn't give us because Joker can't match Batman in physicality. It was really refreshing.

The no music thing has been apparent in the entire trilogy, and perhaps most notably in every pivotal scene in The Dark Knight. Rewatch that one and listen - the music is used as transition more than anything. It's brilliant.

I thought it was the theater I went to during that scene screwing up the audio, the punches where LOUD. Like, I was covering my ears because the sounds from them hitting each other where so much louder than anything else during the entire movie. (The theater is older and has some...quirks but there where only 10 other people there and no small children). I'll watch for that this Friday though.

I hadn't realized that. I took particular notice because it was an epic fight. The Dark Knight didn't really have any intense "fight scenes". I'll have to go back and take a look/listen in The Dark Knight.

I think the lack of music in a lot of the Joker's scenes really attributed to how effective Ledger was as the character. Your whole body shakes of crepiness when you watch them.

Yeah, the punches are very "crisp" I'd say, along with the natural sounds of them moving around/getting knocked into railings, and what-have-you. But they weren't blowing out my eardrums or anything drastic. Some of the negative reviews on Rottentomatoes were bashing Hans Zimmer for exploding their ears, but I didn't experience anything even close to that. Probably has to do with the theater itself, as you mentioned.

Yeah I didn't understand that at all about the music being to loud in some of the pissier reviews.

Nothing will top the creepy strings from TDK to go along with The Joker. That was fan-fucking-tasticly done.

Well seeing as they did have a scene together in the Pit I'm thinking the two of them met.

Talia spelled out in her flashback how bane met Ra's -

After she found her daddy Ra's came back to murder everyone in the pit for what happened to his wife.
Bane came into the order when that happened.
Later, because Talia and Bane were 'close' Ra's kicked out Bane.

I liked this part because of the 2 things in implies.
The first is that it implies but does not directly confirm they where lovers. Surely there's no better reason a father would kick out a member of his order, simply for being loyal to his daughter.
Or Talia and Bane where plotting against the order/Ra's somehow, and he removed bane to weaken her.

I liked either scenario, but then Bane died and Talia cast "Shape of: Steering Wheel" and their character development died along with them.

Clearly was wrong there, my bad. It just feels like he seems to either A) feel like Ra's is some sort of father figure and that he owes itt o him (very unlikely imo) or B) feels dedicated to Talia. Neither answer really satisfies me for him. But that's just my opinion.

It didn't strike me that they were lovers at all. She was like five when Bane was 20 or older...we don't know the exact ages of either, but the age disparity is too much for a romantic thing. And when Talia leaves Bane at the end, she says "goodbye, old friend." I think it was just a case of Bane loving Talia like she was his own daughter.

Talia says in the movie that Ras hated Bane because he was a constant reminder of what he left his daughter in. Also, everyone keeps bringing up how old Bane is in tdkr, when it is plausible for him to be in his early teens in the prison.

It's possible that he was a teen, but he was whippin some serious ass in that prison from the looks of it. I don't think a kid in his early teen's would be fending off multiple attackers. He looked pretty diesel, even covered in all those rags and whatnot.

Fack I forgot about that. I just can't see Ra's being that sentimental that he'd send an asset like Bane away.

Does anyone else get the impression that entire plot is essentially a gigantic Xanathos Gambit by Talia? One that failed on some levels sure, but ultimately her and the league got what was wanted with Gotham's siege.

This movie had plot holes, but they're forgivable...Bane's voice is so...well amazing is one word to describe it.

Just saw it, was a bit slow and the Holly Robinson character seemed really out of place in this movie. I was surprised to see her thrown in.
