Like I've said before, Nolan owes the success of the trilogy to Ledger and his bitch ass suicide.
Yes, tell me again how Batman Begins was a failure. Does he owe the success of the trilogy to Ledger? No way. But for the ultra-success that is seen between the 372 million that the first one made and the billion the 2nd one made? Now, that is more certain.

I think he meant its funny because how badly people originally reacted to his casting.

Answer to the Joker whereabouts question and the condition of Arkham

"Now that the Dent Act had made it all but impossible for the city’s criminals to cop an insanity plea, it (Blackgate Prison) had replaced Arkham Asylum as a preferred location for imprisoning both convicted and suspected felons. The worst of the worst were sent here, except for the Joker, who, rumor had it, was locked away as Arkham’s sole remaining inmate. Or perhaps he had escaped. Nobody was really sure. Not even Selina."

not really a canon answer since that is in the novelization. The answer is that Nolan doesn't care where he is so make up whatever you want!

Saw this on Tuesday and was pretty impressed. I really didn't dig Bane's voice at first but it kind of grew on me when he showed how much of a sav he was.
Anne Hathaway was deff my fav part of the movie, such a fucking sexy/awesome catwoman, especially when she was driving the batcycle, datassss~.

I still think The Dark Knight was leagues better then this one though, it was just so much more memorable (thanks to the Joker). I can't honestly think of a single good quote from this movie, like there were some good lines but nothing amazing. The fight scenes were great though, fucking grimaced when Bane beat Batman's helmet in x.x.

Edit: Also I really didn't care for Alfred like at ALL this go around, Idk what it was but every scene he was in I just didn't like him.

Ok that dialogue was pretty legit, I knew someone would remind me of something. I was just trying to find legendary status quotes (ala "Why so serious?"), and I think comparing TDKR to TDK was just setting myself up for disappointment.

I think that's because almost all of Alfred's dialog in this movie consisted of him complaining to Bruce, saying he shouldnt do this or shouldnt do that.

I may be the only one. But I really liked the monologue as Bane was 'freeing' Gotham. It was kinda cheesy, but I thought it was pretty epic >_> The music might've helped it a lot.

If I didn't know it was Tom Hardy, Bane's voice tricked me into thinking they had Sean Connery voice over.

Also, just echoing that the voice really seems out of place at the beginning of the movie when they're on the plane. It was really too loud over the rest of what was going on

that was one of the things that bugged me the most, there was this disconnect between Bane's ideology and motivations what with his 99% populist Robespierreism setting Gotham 'free' form the forces of inequity turned out, after the reveal, to be nothing more than a smokescreen designed to make Bruce suffer before he and lil Al Ghul destroyed the city. all said was a p shallow villain, was doing everything for sake of his friend who only wanted to avenge dear old dead dad and all the depth they attempted to give him was rendered meaningless. especially disappointing after TDK's weighty chaos vs order dialectic

    It wasn't a revenge thing.
Talia was destroying Gotham to finish what was attempted in Batman Begins. She stated that in the movie and added that killing the person who killed her father was just an extra added perk.

After the reveal? There was no reveal. He clearly stated early on his intention was to make Bruce suffer and then make Gotham suffer by giving them false hope. It was very clear from the start that he wasn't going to 'free' Gotham. He just wanted them to have false hope.

    Also what Souj said.

ok cool but nitpicking aside you both failed to address the primary criticism. thematically boring villains, bad motivations, no significance beyond themselves

and why would the League of Shadows still want to destroy Gotham if it was a crimeless city
