Anyway, the story was interesting and the picture is pretty. The event is based off on Japan's version of White Day which is normally March 14th. St. Valentine's Day in Japan the girls show the guys how much they care. White Day is the reverse where the boys show the girls how much they care. I guess in Hydalen(sp?) the holidays occur back-to-back.

Japanese families will display a set of dolls for a Daughter to get married, or something like that and having the dolls up any later then march third will result in a late marriage. Boys don't go out of their way to show their appreciation for females on that day. However, both White Day and Hinamatsuri are in March and elements of both holiday's can be seen. Little Ladies' Day could be a hybrid of both, as it mixes female appreciation (specifically by the males, not families like Hinamatsuri being celebrated immediately following the male focus St. Valentine's day, and peach blossoms. Hinamatsuri (Doll's Festival) is also known as Momo No Sekku or Peach Blossom Seasonal Festival.

Anyway, the fact that they made the story about guys appreciating females immediately after Valenteone's Day made me think of White Day. But the event does end on March 3rd. So, I dunno. I am seeing reasons for both. Maybe once we see the extend of the decorations we'll know for sure which holiday they're leaning to the most.

I take it all back. I am wrong. It is Hinamatsuri based. The mochi cakes we can make in-game are the exact same as the Hishi Mochi cakes eaten on Hinamatsuri. Diamond-shaped, and pink/white/green layer. For some reason I felt Hinamatsuri would be later... but, I guess in-game they have to start early.

I mean I stockpiled this shit over break when I DIDN'T have anything better to do. But now, with two massive independent study research projects, full load of classes, running a student organization and organizing a 2 day event with visiting students from other colleges for said organization in 2 weeks, I have a bit too much to do to sit and spam standard synthesis on fleece and velveteen synths. If I had a crafting bot that'd be a different story I'm sure. I'd have another 50m most likely lol.

edit: And just when I get out from under the event, I'll have DA2 eating up my time I'm sure haha.. looking forward to it though.

#1- Don't make anymore updates with this inane shit, SE, and just tell us when you're fixing the game. Some of us are excited about what you can do with it down the road, and seeing this shit when you're expecting an actual interesting update is annoying. I want to read it and say "Hmmm, progress. Time to play it yet?" Not "Hmmm, no fucking progress whatsoever."

#2- It never ceases to amaze me how big Final Fantasy fans are on Japan and Japanese culture. I like BMWs but I don't delve deeply into Nietzsche because of it. I love basketball, but I'm not obsessed with the YMCA culture of Massachusetts in the late 19th century. I like tequila, but I don't have a sombrero as a sig across the internets. But FF is just infested with people with screennames/characters named Hajime Kuroda or some such, talking about the sweet anime they just watched all day, with a samurai as an avatar. Obnoxious.

Why are you even bothering with FF games when you know they attract people who like Japan and have Japanese players? The in-game invents are fucking Japanese holidays for crying out loud. Get over it. In addition, not everyone is a fucking weaboo otaku anime freak. Just because someone knows about the culture and/or speaks the language doesn't mean they have hentai body pillows and wall-to-wall shelfing with gundam action figures and shit. I dunno, take me for instance. International studies major with an east asia focus with a requirement of 3 years of Japanese language. I don't really consider myself an anime freak, or a Japanophile. I only really discuss Japan with other players here since the game is culturally Japanese and has Japanese players and other players who speak and write Japanese. Anyway, it seems like a random complain because I don't think anyone in this thread really fits what you're describing.

If you insist on this game, maybe come back in a year when the game has a multitude of patches under its belt.

Just because someone knows something about Japanese culture doesn't make them obsessed about it. I happen to be half Japanese, and my family happens to celebrate all of the Japanese holidays, so I know a little bit about them. And really, you have to expect a game made by a Japanese company and that has a good chunk of the player base being Japanese, will attract people that do like the Japanese culture.

And honestly, SE knows (well I hope to hell they know) that this game has major issues, and it needs to be fixed. I'm pretty sure they know they have a limited amount of time that their player base will wait for them to do it, but shit takes time. Little stuff like this is most likely extremely easy to implement, and may keep people interested a little bit longer with something new and different. I mean, if you aren't happy about how they are doing stuff just don't play it, you have a choice. I personally am not bothering with the game anymore unless they fix things relatively soon, but I really have no control over it if they do or not.

Sounds like you got better shit to do. I guess by the time the awesome game storm is over, it might be worth playing, but I doubt that another patch will change that.

Just an FYI on anyone interested in the confetti, nothing really spectacular. Hear a pop followed by a koto, and a very small amount of confetti. All in all, XI's fireworks were more interesting.
