Also Linda Hamilton was 28 when Terminator came out so she was probably 27ish in the filming. Emilia Clarke is...27.

Who said he was there to stop the original T-800? That could just be a scene of him at an earlier point (when he first goes back).

Also, let's try this:

Future, let's say around 2030: We have the normal timeline where Connor saves (or is close to saving) humanity. He reaches the time portal and sees that they've sent someone back to kill his mother. He sends back the dude that volunteered to protect his mother, to around 1960~70.

The war keeps going however in the future (2030+), and at a later point in time, the machines send back a T-1000 to kill his mother when she's a little girl (1950-1960?). ~ Future humanity sends back Arnold.

Dude finds young Sarah Connor already being protected by Arnold that was sent back.

The only thing this doesn't explain is whether this is an alternate timeline (meaning the events of T1/T2 never really happen). This seems like the only plausible alternative.

The trailer makes it pretty clear that the first movie's T-800 was taken out the moment he arrived by old Arnie who was already in that time to help Sarah.

But if that happened then Kyle and Sarah won't form this bond while he is out to protect her and then make sweet love to create baby John in the first place?

At this point I'm actually ok to abandon any logic/story and go with the fact we finally have Arnie back as Terminator, delivering the classic lines, and Terminator v Terminator action in a game of chase while desperatetly fighting off the advancing wall of doom that is the enemy Terminator.

the fact none of us can understand the time travel logic from the trailer is a bad thing. It is going back to the human element which I think is important for a good film... that, and all the movies based in the future where skynet has already taken over have flopped

This could literally be the worst movie to ever come out but that Arnold VS. Arnold scene is going to cause a fucking earthquake in the movie theaters and I'm more than OK with that.
