Look it up at the manufacturer
To pick a random example for AMD and Intel:
http://ark.intel.com/products/37147/...s-Intel-QPI%29
http://products.amd.com/%28X%281%29S...f10=&f11=&f12=
Both sites list 64bit-capability.
Yup, XP only supports DX9. DX10 came with Vista, DX11 is included in Win7 and can be installed on Vista too.
What is a good text editor for Windows? Looking for one that does HTML/PHP/C++ color coding and other standard features (find/replace, etc). I've always done programming on a Mac with BBEdit, but right now doing it on my desktop would be much simpler. WordPad is boring.
I think a popular one is notepad++, I remember it from windower forums for spellcast stuff and it has those features.
Yup, Notepad++. Supports context highlighting and some other goodies for a ton of programming and web languages but still has the easy to use charm of "good old" Windows Notepad.
So, i have a pair of .mkv files, holding 720p versions of a show (was the only version, no SD or alternate format).
HD makes my laptop weep, so I figured I'd try to run it on my PS3. Grabbed a USB stick while I was out, have them on there.
The PS3 just won't seem to see the files.
The PS3 reads the stick, I've simplified the filenames (shortened, removed non-alphanumerics), I've even made a VIDEO folder (which the system does see).
I've googled my problem, and what seems to work for everyone else is "hit triangle, view all". Not in my case.
I've also tested out image and music files, those are working as normal.
What do?
Ps3 won't play mkvs. If you happen to be on cfw, showtime can play mkv, otherwise convert to mp4 or something.
Yeah. PS3 does not play *.mkv. Not without hacked firmware.
Try using handbrake to convert it if your ps3 isn't hacked, or if that won't do it; search for how to do it with free tools. Converting *.mkv to *.mp4 can be quite hit or miss.
Buggerfuck.
Before I even downloaded the damned thing, I looked around, and shit said it WOULD play, but never mentioned it needed to be on cfw.
Otherwise I would have saved my bandwidth.
I'll try Handbrake.
EDIT: Oh christ, hours to do a single file. Fuck it, and fuck my hardware. DELETE
Thanks for the assistance anyway. At least I've learned what not to do again.
It's most likely h264 in the mkv, which will play fine on the ps3. You just need to remux to a different container.
On older/slower computers Handbrake does take forever (I should know, I convert FFXI video files with it that I did with Fraps).
I suggest if you have a older pc (and that laptop sounds like a older pc), that you start the convert before you go to bed or before you go on a long errand. If it works (I've had it choke before) you'll have it by morning.
If it chokes..well, there are other ways to convert files, google how to do that.
Also to be honest, I hope this wasn't the case, but some hqs are hq10bit, which my pc chokes something awful on even tho I got the proper codecs installed. I have never tried to convert a 10 bit MKV, tho I'll ask my fansubber friends if you think you might do that again. ^^
So, it seems I can copy .m4a files from itunes to my galaxy nexus and from there wmp on another pc can play them, but the kicker seems to be that it will only play one song if I play from the phone. It won't let me add additional files to the playlist. If I copy them from the phone to the pc then it will let me have a playlist of more than one song. Also, the phone is listed as a media device and none of the itunes music shows in wmp.
Anyone have suggestions for eye irritation from computer screens? A friend seems to get it pretty frequently so I was hoping to find some things for him to try. I've heard of gunnar glasses, but as far as I can tell any amber lenses will have the same effect. I also use f.lux myself, but wasn't sure if that's really the same idea.
I just got a new Asus laptop and after getting 5 asus bloatware popups after turning it on, I immediately went and installed a fresh Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit version. After the install I was unable to recognize the wireless network card. I called asus and went through some unsuccessful troubleshooting they told me I would have to buy their $50 Notebook Recovery Software to roll back my settings to their Win 7 Premium 64 bit version. Apparently their drivers are not compatible with Win 7 Ultimate?
Does this sound right? It doesn't make any sense to me that drivers are made for specific 64bit versions of Windows 7. Any recommendations on what I could do to not spend that $50?
Could look and see what the actual chipset is on the card, assuming it's not something custom, and go find the driver from the actual manufacturer. The "use the recovery" thing tends to be a fallback that tech support uses when they can't figure out a software issue (or don't want to spend more time doing so).
Usually, they give you a recovery disk with Drivers and Utilities. You need this disk activate the Wireless card and other components. That's what I had to do when using a non-OEM Windows 7 disk on someone's laptop.
I'm still confused on some terminology.
As an example, this board is "CrossfireX/SLI".
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...?EdpNo=1497938
Now, in several posts in this thread and the advice thread, I learned that in order for a motherboard to do 3 video cards in SLI, it needed to say 3 SLI. But some motherboards says crossfire, and others say crossfireX. Does the CrossfireX mean that the board could run 3 PCI-E cards?
I'm confused.
Where did you read this? Anyway the manufactures site says 3 way SLI is fine (x16/x16/x8 though)
SLI in Nvidia.
CrossfireX is ATI, and the technical term for current gen crossfire (2007 on).
Up to 4 cards for each.
