Alright... I kinda juat broke it instead. But anyways, I was replacing the back cover to my laptop... Got it back together, and it started to do this thing it used to do.. Pause on start up (the loading bar stops)... Unplugging battery and just using power cord fixes it, anyways... I hit f12/f2 to see if it worked and it brought me to the bios etc, just restarted... But now my kb won't work at all. I took it back apart and continue to unplug it and plug it back in but nada. I did clean it(just a damp paper towel/dry papertowel) and inadvertently bend it a little but trying to break those damn stripped screws.... Halp

Edit: anyone know where I can go buy a keyboard? won't be able to get a new kb until monday if I order it offline

Need a new video card, budget range is $200-$250 or so. Most of the highly rated ones in that area are Radeon 7850 or Nvidia GTX 560 Ti models, but both seem to be about two years old. Anything newer than that I should be looking at?

Um, the Radeon 7000 series is brand new, has been announced at the beginning of the year starting with the high-class models (79X0), and the "smaller" GPUs from the 78X0 range came later. Well, unless AMD smuggled some renamed 6000 series in there. The ones with GCN (Graphics Core Next) architecture are the real 7000 ones, southern islands and cayman are the older ones.

Is there a way to make the login screen appear on my external so I don't need to open my laptop and login each time? The external display is fine upon login, but not before that.

if it does that with the external display set as primary, then probably not.

Is there a hardware or Fn key for the laptop itself to switch displays? If not it might be a BIOS option, my old laptop had both and if the lid was closed it began with the external display.

Do you have it set up as 2 separate displays or are you just mirroring the display?

If I'm looking at the right setting, it has:

Computer Only (Checked), Duplicate, Extend, and Projector only. I assume I need to pick Duplicate/Projector only?

So for those who use dual monitors. How do you force a video (I think it's flash that's the problem now but it seems to be bad with other players too) to stay full screen on one monitor when you use/click around in another/main monitor. It seems to be hit and miss for me, sometimes it stays full screen and others it wont at all.

Googling gives results about editing flash files or using a program called flash hacker but all those results were 2011 or older and flash has updated since then. Apart from the visual advantage to seeing full screen I also get much greater cpu usage if it's not full screen and I use my main monitor to play videogames so I get bad lag when the video won't stay full screen.

I have an i7 950 that's running at like low 60s when idling. Never really checked cpu temps before until I noticed my computer running slower than I think it should. Worried about it now because I've been playing ffxiv for like a year with it and I just noticed today it goes from like 92-100 celcius when I'm running ffxiv <.< My friend (who is experienced, but still) put together my rig and I'm thinking he either didn't properly put the heatsink on, or the grease that came with it is just low quality/wasn't enough. So I suppose my question is, does anyone have recommendations on a good grease to use? If I understand it correctly, I can't take the heatsink off and make sure it's mounted properly without removing the old grease and applying some new.
