I don't think I'm understanding your question, it seemed like that was what you were hoping to do?

I don't want to use windows to control my volume, instead i want to use the dial on my new speakers. After a lot of googling, it doesn't seem like i can do it. I've always been annoyed at controlling 2 different sources of volume.
When friends touch the pc is all lol. Not totally complaining actually, was just wondering if it was actually possible.
it's not. computer has to output sound to a device, speakers are the same as headset. further sound control can be done by individual devices, but for example if you mute sound in windows, it won't matter what you set your external device to, you're not getting any sound.
It certainly is possible. You could do something as simple as changing the volume back any time someone changes it, which could be done with an autoit script, or something more complex, like intercepting any attempts to change the volume.
Actually I think you can lock down volume control through Group Policy Editor, but something like this might be easier? http://www.actualsolution.com/volume_lock/
I'm pretty certain but need confirmation; you can use PC3-10600 or PC3-8500 (ie. weaker) RAM in a laptop that comes with PC3-12800 right? I'm looking at the Lenovo X230 tablet with i7 processor and it's $1,000 to upgrade from 4 GB to 16 GB if you buy it straight from them when you can buy 16 GB PC3-10600 online for $65.
Edit: Found 16 GB PC3-12800 for $99, crazy for them to charge $1,000 more but I guess you void the warranty if you changed RAM?
It shouldn't, but who knows?but I guess you void the warranty if you changed RAM?
Unless they specify it, it shouldn't. The ram slot is the most accessible area of any laptop iirc.
I accidentally adblocked bg bucket. anyone know how to undo it offhand?
ctrl+shift+f, custom filters, ad blocking rules, actions, show filters. Find it a remove the entry. For firefox, anyway.
If Chrome just go to the wrench icon > tools > extensions > Adblock > Options > "Add Your Own Filters" and remove the relevant entry.
thanks guys!
i have about 700-900 dollars to spend on a new TV
$779
thoughts on this one?

only real specs i want is
LED and between 40-48 inches
Any recommendations?
LED is just a brighter/thinner LCD, it heats up less, so it's a good choice as far as power consumption and space, otherwise, LCD would probably a lower priced route for good specs. Just remember don't play fighters on it w/o hating yourself w/ lag. Lol
Well, i stopped relying on my big screen LCD to play fighters and FPS games, i only use my evo monitor for that. LCDs tho, imo i love samsungs, and as far as being reliable and warranty service, it's great. I had my samsung serviced in home to fix a broken hdmi port that was actually my fault at no charge. Quality is pretty incredible too, i have a 600 series from a couple years ago and that tv outputs everything nicely if calibrated right.
Also i have an old samsung 32" lcd in the bedroom that is already 6 years old, still works like brand new out of the box like a boss.
Just to correct a few things, LCD is the type of display, being there's LCD and Plasma, while LED is the backlight option that would otherwise be CCFL. I saw you got some advice in one of the fighting game threads so I'll just say this TV's on sale atm for $700 and would likely tick all the boxes you're looking for: http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/B00752R...etteraddons-20 IPS panels are also really great and it comes with a PC connection. Panasonic's are also fairly notorious for having low input lag among TVs so it's probably a really good buy. Don't imagine it'll last long, though.
So, I had The Witcher running smoothly last night with everything on max + no AA + no grass detail and it was perfect.
Today I had to fuck around with my graphics card settings to try and get Arma 2 running at an acceptable framerate. Now I can't get get The Witcher running smoothly again, despite having the exact same in-game settings and graphics card settings.
What the fuck is going on? Guild Wars 1 started having minor framerate issues after I fucked with Arma 2 as well.
Computer specs:
AMD Phenom II x4 970 3.50GHz
8g RAM
Windows 7 64-bit
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
My graphics card settings when it was working was:
AA: Application-controlled (tried turning it just straight off and did nothing) (In-game it's off)
V-Sync: On
Triple Buffering: On
Now that configuration doesn't work. Tried that configuration plus turning all the graphics settings in game down, tried AA on, tried variations of all of that and still major framerate lag.
I know Witcher isn't optimized very well but explain to me why the fuck it was working last night and now it doesn't.
EDIT: I fixed it... had to resinstall graphics card driver.
