any ideas guys? thanks.
My old router just died, time to shop for a new one.
Any suggestions? What should I be concerned with, and what's just hype to sell products?
I live in a 1500 sq ft one-story house, I'd like decent wireless service on my front and back porch (just to browse the web), and it'll be mounted towards the front of the house. Beyond that, I stream Netflix through my Wii (which I know limits things since the Wii operates on an A or B, not a G or N), my PC is wired so no issues there, and my laptop usually sits wired by my couch.
Not terribly concerned about price, but I tend to stick in the mid-range of things. I don't usually go for the latest and the greatest, but I'm not the guy who buys the Walmart special either.
When I looked into the matter, the three major concerns were
- Wireless-N
- Dual-band capability (2.4ghz + 5ghz options)
- Reliability
Since your Wii is the only wired device, you can technically skimp on those concerns aside from reliability. If you want to invest just in case, I would aim for Dualband + Wireless-N. The former prevents interference if you have a wireless with 5ghz capability and the latter enables you to reach wireless speeds beyond the 22mbs range if you have good internet speed.

If you look at the bottom, there is a series of routers. See which one interests you.
Suspecting loved one of cheating (was shown sexting~ )
confronted that person, he refused to give me his phone password, he quickly called the company and disconnected it from the service. He is paying for the bill so getting print out of texts/phone calls doesn't seem possible, city official just referred me to a lawyer. It's his day off, i got his phone, he got his Laptop and tablet.
What information can i salvage from his phone atm? (Metro PCS, Samsung, android)
assuming he will leave Laptop and tablet at home tomorrow, what can i salvage from those?
They had it right. Whether he's cheating or not, you obviously don't trust him, so your relationship is fucked either way.city official just referred me to a lawyer.
i would like more of a proof thou, if he's got plans for the future with someone else, i won't stand in his way, i'd just like some clarity
I decided I wanted to make my own recording of the FFXIV 1.23 "ending" and went to DL fraps, F-secure reports the setup.exe as harmful when I try to DL it (from www.fraps.com), recommending that I do not use the site. Is this an old known false positive, or something new?
I just downloaded a fresh copy today while reinstalling stuff on new PC and didn't have any warnings or problems detected. I downloaded from the members area, if that makes any difference.
Historically speaking: FRAPS has been very stable, I've not run into anything unusually bad except known bugs in the past.
Is a 7850 worth the extra $30-40 over a 6950?
everything i've read the 7850 is newer architecture, runs cooler w/less power, and just performs better. i'd say for that much $ yes it's worth the difference. at stock the 7850 is on par with the 6970.
although if you use multiple monitors & find a 2gb 6950 for around that price i may go with that instead. 1gb vs 1gb go with the 78xx
I need 3-monitor support specifically, maxed gaming graphics is a secondary concern
edit: to be more specific on what I'm trying to do, I stream organized gaming tournaments using XSplit. At the moment I have one monitor used normally, then I set the venue's big screen as the second monitor and use XSplit's projector function to show the stream on it.
I need to be able to do this same thing on one more monitor simultaneously so that commentators can view a separate screen from the person operating XSplit.
Odd problem I'm having trouble with.
Laptop BSOD'd (from a video driver) and now the screen stays blank (black) on start-up. Plugging in a VGA cable, I can transfer the video output to a monitor and see what's going on perfectly fine (oddly enough).
However, the display is extremely pixelated and has random blue/red/green/baby blue/purple/orange blocks filled in. I can't boot the OS though, as it continually BSODs unless I go into safe mode. I removed my HD and backed up all my info, so that's good... But now I'm still back to problem #01... I could reformat it no problem, but turning on the laptop without the HD in I still see the same rainbow-bit pattern. Makes me think that reformatting won't do anything, and that the graphics card might've just shit the bed.
I took the entire laptop apart and double-checked all connections, reseated everything, made sure everything looked OK (nothing burned/fried/etc). No change.
So, I have no idea, never seen this before and it's incredibly tough to find info on.
Anyone have any ideas/recommendations/possible explanations? Thanks.
Since you already went inside of the machine and checked the connections, then I'd rule that out of course. The video system display for the LCD and the external monitor display should be the same, so if th external works fine, then possible the LCD is toast. (There is a slight possibility that the interface to the video system from the LCD could be damaged, but that is rare from what I've seen. I did work on one Dell laptop where the ribbon cable needed to be removed and re-seated to clear up a display problem, in another case, had to replace the whole motherboard and video system.....)
I was curious, all of this resulted from a video driver change? The LCD was working before the video change?
Reformatting will only solve any internal issues to the OS and related drivers, obviously not installing the same drivers that failed previously.
The only other point that I'd suggest trying is going into your BIOS and resetting everything to default. There should be an option in the BIOS setup to 'Load Setup Defaults' or something similar. You could also try updating the BIOS just on the off chance something is wonky with the current BIOS.
Without other details, those are my immediate picks.
BSOD stop code?
On the external monitor i guess? Sounds like your GPU died... That might also explain why the driver BSODs.However, the display is extremely pixelated and has random blue/red/green/baby blue/purple/orange blocks filled in.
Had something similar on my old laptop a year ago, on boot the display got completely white with a few colored stripes, external monitor showed a really distorted/pixeled image with tons of color stripes/blocks.
Not much you can do about it since the GPU chips are most of the time soldered to the mainboard.
Any suggestions on record players? About to start purchasing some old vinyl records
