Most new PCs dont come with them anymore, theyre part of a system restore patition. It's stupid, but whatever.
MS offers them free to DL anyway.

Gotcha, okay. I just need to make sure I have my serial code then. No worries.
Good news is this computer runs Prime95 steady as a rock off a USB boot. Bad news is I already tried reinstalling Windows once and it didn't work.
This isn't really tech, but I don't know where else to ask. Does anyone know where Motionjoy backs up custom profiles? Even if I uninstall the program and delete the program folder, when I reinstall it my FFXIV custom profile is still there. I'm just curious how it's doing this and where the damned thing is so I know for future reference. So when I do a format etc. I can grab the profile so I don't have to remake it later.
For those who may not know about Motionjoy it basically just lets you use your PS3 controller on your PC and set up custom key binds.
%AppData%\MotioninJoy\DS3tool\appconfig (no exention, the .xml is garbage).
%appdata% has most all of the stuff you need when formatting, as far as settings, and logs, and such goes.So when I do a format etc. I can grab the profile so I don't have to remake it later.
Really strange... How long did Prime95 run? 2-3 hours (or more) would be a good sign that the crashes are probably not because of power problems under stress.
So Windows still has those random crashes? Did you disable automatic reboot on Bluescreens? Would be interesting to see if it actually shows an error.
I somehow get the feeling that it's the SSD... Or to be precise, its power consumption. When the system runs stable for hours under stress when you boot via USB but crashes when run from the SSD, it could be that those few Watts extra are what is too much for the PSU. Already read about some SSDs consuming more power than standard 2,5" HDDs.
A way to test it would be to install a linux system to the SSD and see if it runs stable like from USB. Or, if available, use a HDD instead of the SSD and try it with Windows again.
The Samsung 830 series is one of the least power-efficient SSDs, but we're talking 3.5W at peak, while mechanical hard drives idle at nearly 10W and peak around 30W on startup. While an SSD error is plausible, it would not really be power-related.
I ran Prime95 for just 15 minutes. The UBCD turns off the display after 10 and I was curious so I hit a key that stopped it. Current 20 minutes into repeating without any issues.
EDIT: Just ran it an hour and a half, but neecd to switch over to old computer for ADL now. Temperature got up to 54 C, zero issues. Fairly certain this is a software issue.
Don't know if this belongs here.
I'm going to be recieving a HTC One X from my girlfriend since she doesn't like Androids. Should I sell the HTC and get a Samsung Galaxy s3? What is the differences between the two?
S3 is a superior phone, but ymmv on if that's worth the money difference for you. They use the exact same processor, but S3 has double the memory so it will be snappier. The front-facing camera, display, and battery are all slightly better, and it has nifty features like SBeam, and I think you can easily root it right from the stock menu(4 of my close friends have the S3, I personally have an S2 so I've just gotten to play with them a handful of times).
That said, I'm sure the One X does everything a smartphone is supposed to do just fine, got favorable reviews, and I'd be amazed if you got more than $60 for it so you're probably looking at $120+ to upgrade.
Admitelly, I'm not too bright on this whole cellphone business. Honestly, I just figured I could craiglist this to someone near me. I looked up the price via ebay/amazon/yada and saw it was worth like 500ish and thought I get at lest 200-300 from it. How is it only $60 dollars? What am I missing here?
It's like $99 with an AT&T contract I believe. I think it's a solid phone but I don't it works on anything other than AT&T, if they're stuck with that carrier regardless I dint see why they'd pay more for it than what they'd get it straight from the carrier for.
also I did find this if it helps: http://digitaltrends.com/mobile/sams...tc-evo-4g-lte/
Ah! Now I get what you mean. My girlfriend previously nearly sold the phone for 300ish to a friend before giving it to her grandmother. I guess I just have to get lucky and hope they don't understand that side. Thanks for the link.
Yeah by all means I'd post it up for $2-300 and see what happens, but if someone actually does some research they'd know not to pay that. Hopefully you can luck out and collect some dummy tax.
If the HTC One X is $99 with contract then what you're thinking for a sale isn't a bad idea as people are generally willing to pay a bit more for an out-of-contract phone and an ubsubsidized plan with their carrier where you usually end up paying considerably more in the long term than buying your device outright. See what they're going for on ebay.
the only problem is that to the best of what I gathered the One X isn't unlockable and not something you could use on other carriers, and I was under the impression that AT&T only operates with contracts
From the drop-down options, there is 2, 1 year contracts and then a no commitment option. I don't know if that proves your impression or not.
