So has Apple just been building incredibly shitty Ipod Classics now?
I prefer the Classics to Touch because bigger size/better price. Had a 160gb one for nearly 2 years until it finally ended up dying. Got a new one and 8 months later the hard drive just got fucked somehow. I got a replacement for that because the warranty still covered it. Literally two days later, my new replacement Ipod just completely stops working, so I get another new one. 3ish months later, now this Ipod is fucking up. It still works in all the ways its supposed to, but the problem is that it keeps turning itself on.
I'll hold play to shut it off and it will turn off, but 30-60 seconds later the screen just lights back up. And then it'll dim the screen after a few more seconds but then it'll light back up again. Even when I flip the Hold switch, still happens. I'm not sure exactly when my 1year warranty expires/expired, so I went to go check it on the apple site only to find out that when I put the serial number into the box, I get the message that that serial number belongs to a replaced ipod and to put the other serial number in (which they never gave to me.
    Fuckin god damn apple!

I've only just now discovered the awesomeness of Dropbox. I knew about it for a long time, but never really thought I'd use it much (and was a bit skeptical/wary of it).

But, now I'm in love with it and it's helped a lot with making some work/home stuff easier and streamlined/simple.

I'm still a bit cautious about it though, and wondering if anyone has any negative experiences/knowledge with it? I found some reviews/comparisons, and it all seems great, but hoping to fish for other perspectives/opinions.

That's weird that the modem did not work. They should have had some kind of compatibility chart on their website.

If you're working in a Linux environment, you could try Python. Its pretty easy to pick up. If you're on Windows I'd recommend C# or Java. Having a project to keep you motivated is also very useful if you're serous about learning programming. I spent about two hours reading basic object oriented concepts before I just dove in.

Yeah i'm fiddling with java now at work, know any good books or tutorial sites? The book I borrowed from a colleague was written in like 2003, I would assume SOME stuff has changed in the past 10 years. I know what you mean about having a project though, I do a few things in java then stop, but I really jumped into Powershell scripting in the past month just to streamline a lot of our installs at the college here and that was a blast.

http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/index.html. If you still play FFXI, you could try messing around with FFACE.

Anyone know how to remove the DRM from Amazon Instant Video files? Looked around Google and I only found some shitty programs.

    Thanks.

Any way to have a Win8 laptop boot up with initial setup after having WinUpdated & installed some programs and keeping those programs/updates?

Is there anything I can use to get additional HDMI-ins for my TV? It's only got two, which are being occupied by my 360 and cable box, and I'm looking at getting a PS3 (and an Xbox One, come November), so manually switching the cables around constantly would be inconvenient.

You can use an HDMI switch that you can plug a few things into and then swap which the TV sees, some have remotes, too. This page has a bunch: http://www.monoprice.com/products/su...01&cp_id=10110

For something cheap that works, I bought this one: http://www.amazon.com/Portta-PET0301.../dp/B00B46XUQU - I have a 360 and PS3 plugged into it, connected to my monitor and I haven't had any problems.

I don't think my wife really needs an SSD, but do you have a better suggestion for what qualifies as decent for processor and video card then? I am full retard when it comes to this stuff.

Well for gaming you don't need an I7, get yourself a 2500k, 3570k, or 4670k. And as for a GPU, it really depends what you want and how much you want to pay. 660ti is a good card or a 7870 or 660. It all depends how much you want to spend.

Everyone needs an ssd. An ssd is the sinlge most important thing to get for a computer. Even if it's just 40 gb for an OS and web browser, it is really dumb to not have an ssd.

Honestly this. At this point in time having a ssd as a boot device, and for important apps is just a smart move.

what aspects should I be targeting in a laptop if I want decent video game performance?

most of the cheaper ones don't have a dedicated videocard, so I'm wondering about how Intel i3, i5, i7 or AMD A6, A8 etc affect video game performance, and if duo core or quad core affect it and where bottle necking happens

I hope any of that makes sense, my understanding of the aspects involved is shaky
