Yes only load times. The more files a game needs to read the better. Also if your PC decides to for some reason run a virus scan during game play SSDs handle it better without stutter compared to HDDs.

Two fold question about a very very old system

My cousin has a very old Compaq Presario SR1000. He just uses it for general PC use and that has served him sell as he is primarily a console gamer. He recently picked up interest in that Star Trek Online game from Perfect World. This thing has an on board ATI Express 200 (Onboard w/ 64MB VRAM) and still manages to play the game albeit not very well on the lowest settings.

I had an old Asus EAH5450 1GB PCIe card luying around. He had a PCIe slot so I put it in last night but i just couldnt get the system past the POST. It was almost as if the system couldnt handle the card in terms of the power draw. It only has a 300W PSU so after a little digging i figured that was the issue. I was under the impression though that the system should still start and would only struggle when the system started to use the card properly? There was no beeps the system just turned on with no beeps but the CPU fan was constantly on the highest speed setting. Even in the BIOS or using the on board VGA the system wouldnt work with the card in. Then with some more digging there was some suggestions that it could be the generation of the card when compared to the generation of the PCIe slot in there. A BIOS upgrade was suggested but he didnt want to do that.

Anyone got an idea on what was the underluying issue? The reccomendation PSU for that card is 400W but other forums suggest being able to use a 300w PSU on that card. Should i just get an older card? Upgrade the PSU? Any suggestions thanks!

I got some virus shit that showed up today. Google and other random URLs give me a "The server's security certificate is revoked!" block.

I ran Symantec endpoint and deleted everything it found but it didn't fix it.

    Any ideas?

Is there a way to block an entire website from sending e-mail?

For instance, virtually all my spam come from *****@yahoo.com.

Is there a way to simply block EVERY e-mail from anything @yahoo.com?

I don't care if legit e-mail gets blocked too.

Ok vague problem here that I wanna clear once and for all before i kill my uncle (ok not for real)

Cousin filmed my Aunt + Uncle 40th anniversary on her camera, and then burned it to a disk.

Out of 6 place they tried it only 1 work (at my parents house) (On a blue ray drive) also it works on any computers

Rest that doesn't work they all tried it on a regular DVD player (But since my family is cheap thye all bough like a 20$ dvd player to plug on the TV)

Now uncle keeps calling me saying that he wanna watch it, and he brought me the DVD when he came to visit my parents (they like a 4h car ride from here)

The film they burned is a .wmv and i know most of the cheap DVD cannot read it. I tried to convert it to .avi and still doesn't work on a cheap DVD.

Next problem is that uncle is unable to tell me his DVD model so i cannot check online which formats it supports. Also uncle doesn't have a PC because he doesn't want one

Tl;dr Cousin burned a .wmv on a DVD that uncle with an unknown DVD player type can't read. So i need to find a free converter to convert the .wmv to the cheapest possible video quality hoping that his unknown DVD player can read it.

    Anyone can help?

A lot of older DVD players (or DVD players in general) are only going to support properly set up DVDs, Video CDs, that kind of thing, not just play media files off of a disc.

You should be able to use the file to author a DVD using free software (like this for example). Burned DVDs still don't tend to be 100% compatible, but having it in MPEG-2/.VOB format in the proper folder structure should work in a lot more players.

When I got my new pc and got Windows 7 64 installed, seems my old PS2 to USB adapter decided it didn't like me anymore. 'Neko got it to work but I'm using his Nyko Airflow atm.

Since I'd like to return that, any suggestions on Dual Shock 2 clones for a PC? Or adapters? I'm too used to that controller now to switch; and wireless wouldn't be bad even tho I'm pretty close to the box. ^^ Save me a few cord tangles. ^^

That looks good but the reviews on amazon..not to mention word on the street..says they tend to bust on you. (I don't like my crap breaking and don't want to rep it after a year. I hear it's because that darned controller doesn't have any strain relief) Been looking at this one; from the reviews it seems solid and would help solve a terrible cord mess behind my pc (I'd have it less than 3 feet from the compy); I don't know about battery life on that though. Would proly get rechargables..Any word on that guys?

Welp seems like it comes and goes... sometimes BG loads and sometimes it doesn't... IE did work for a little bit but also fell victim... Other sites load just fine, it's only BG D:

Hey; because the ps3 belongs to my brother (I bought the original ps2 controller I was using since i did plan on getting a ps2, and still do but messing with dual shock 3's are another story). I checked over the controllers on Amazon and finally found one that might work: Here. Yes that's XIV branded but from the reviews it should last a good while. I dun know if i'lll play XIV but since both XI and XIV were basically designed for the same kinda joypad (Dual Shock) it should work. ^^

You can still use a ps3 controller on a pc. They cost about what you're looking at anyway. Can be used wirelessly with bluetooth too.
